  1. Montoyo is actually a poor mans Buck Showalter haha. I honestly don't mind a manager with no MLB managing experience if it's a team full of vets, but with a team as young and inexperienced as the Blue Jays, I'd like to see a manger with some experience at the helm. I honestly have to wonder what Shapiro and Atkins are thinking with this Montoyo guy. He's clearly an idiot, no prior managing experience. Why are they so loyal to this guy?
  2. I get the feeling that he's not a very bright guy. When he blew the game with Chatwood last time, after the game he said that they won 2 out of 3 games and that it "doesn't get any better than that" and he wasn't being sarcastic:eek:
  3. Shame to see the Jays lose after the brilliant performance from Ray. White Sox absolutely DESTROY lefties, so watching Ray mow em down was truly a thing of beauty. Pretty cringe-worthy to see Thorton come into the 8th, but I guess there's not really many other options. Definitely a game full of missed opportunities. A reminder that although the team is talented, there's still a lot of inexperience and lack of fundamentals... Can one point blame to Montoyo? I dunno, I really hate his in-game management so I find it easy to use him as a scapegoat. I'm honestly still not over the Chatwood/4 walk Indian game display and don't know if I'll ever be. All and all, a really fun game to watch anyways. As a viewer at the end of the day, it's all about being entertained and this game delivered.
  4. lol crazier things have happened. I hear ya tho, it sucked he left but I'll always root for the guy come playoffs sans Raptors. Game 7 baby! Should be a classic!
  5. Small sample size. Advanced stat guys would disagree but I think there's also a small window of benefit when a career NL guy starts pitching in the AL
  6. You never see that kind of thing happen in the MLB anymore. The players are too pampered. It's one thing I really like about the KBO. They'll even pull star players out of the game if they have an unproductive at bat in a crucial moment of the game. Makes for a more exciting product when the players are held to the utmost accountability.
  7. It doesn't matter who he gets up. He had to have SOMEONE ready and can't let a reliever walk 4 straight batters in a 1 run game in the last inning, especially after the pitcher almost blew it in the previous inning. And it's not like Chatwood was battling the hitters with 10 pitch at bats and was just losing guys. It was basically 4 straight balls after 4 straight balls. The bottom line is Chatwood was recently pissed that he got pulled so Montoyo in a vindictive way said "oh yeah? You're mad that I took you out of that game? well here, it's all on you now. Let's see how you would have got out of it". It's childish and does a disservice to the sanctity of the game. To make matters worse, in the press conference after the game he basically rationalized "so what? we already won 2 out of the 3 games. That's good enough for me, in fact it doesn't get any better than that". The guy's an absolute clown.
  8. The most telling part of that Montoyo press conference was when he said "You have to trust someone ONE TIME to let them get out of trouble". Considering the tantrum that Chatwood had a week ago, he's basically admitting that he left him out there to lose the game to prove a point. That's a fireable offense IMO. It's not like the Jays are up 10 games in the division and he's proving a point to Ryu. To throw a critical game away in a tight division to put a reliever in his place is beyond idiotic. The Jays need to get rid of this guy.
  9. If Montoyo really was throwing the game to stick it to Chatwood for some grudge then he deserves to be fired. That kind of idiocy is inexcusable. It's not as though the Jays are running away with the division or something. It's the AL East.
  10. This really should be investigated... I mean what other conclusion can one come to? 4 straight walks before you pull the guy with the game on the line? No one can try and tell me that there wasn't some funny business taking place there. I know we like to think of our sports heroes as these moral and upstanding people, but sometimes shady behavior does find its way in any professional sports league when you can gamble on it. It's just a reality of the situation.
  11. That's honestly the first thought that I had. What other reasonable conclusion can one come to when watching that other than they were purposely throwing the game? Definitely some suspicious activity taking place with that display.
  12. This is little league crap. They gotta fire Montoyo. I think he's losing the team.
  13. The MLB's too soft. When that sorta thing happens in the KBO, the manager will instantly pull the player out of the game. Just no excuse at this level.
  14. Dolis reminds me of the old Jays closer Kevin Gregg... Never an easy inning
  15. You're missing the point. It was clear to anyone with baseball IQ that Dolis didn't have it and was going to blow it. You need to be able to recognize that if you're a manager. It was clear to everyone in this thread. You can rationalize it any way you want, but there was no reason to leave Dolis in there to blow it. Plain and simple.
  16. Everyone you quoted turned out to be right... Come on, man:rolleyes:
  17. If he planned on rolling with Dolis in the 9th, he should have at least had a backup plan if things got hairy. It was clear as day to anyone that he didn't have his command and that he was going to blow it.
  18. Barnes is going to mow these guys down... Biggio and Espinal lol
