  1. One thing though, Isn't it supposed to be a jacket with all the countries of the Jays players? I saw Brazil, Panama ETC on there and as far as I know we don't have any players from there do we?
  2. I don't know how I missed this. I'm not a fashion guy at all so it flew over my head. Watching it on TV I always thought it was a thicker winter type jacket, but after reading the replies on here I made a point to focus in on it and yeah, I was definitely out to lunch haha. Also, I guess I haven't been watching as many Jays games this year as I usually would as I treated myself to MLB TV and I've been watching a lot of other games around the league.
  3. Kirk's quickly becoming a favorite of mine. The kid stings it! So crazy watching a guy with his body type at this level and he's always got such an understated upbeat decorum to him. He's definitely gotta be the starting catcher going forward.
  4. The Pad's have their swag chain, other teams haves silly hats and it's all kind of fun and a form of team camaraderie. And the Jays have a... winter jacket? It feels forced. Especially now that the player has to stop before the dugout as Charlie slowly and carefully applies the jacket. It's just not a very exciting thing to watch. It would be one thing if it was some kind of cool, over the top jacket like a fur-coat or some studded jacket or some s***, but it's literally just a plain ugly blue winter jacket with country names scrawled across it. Padre fans LOVE the swag chain and they sell em and it's a piece of team lore now, but I don't think I've ever even heard a Jays fan talk about the jacket. Is there some kind of lore to the jacket or back story that I'm unaware of? What's the appeal of this ridiculous process? The jacket's a lame idea. Can they put it to rest already?
  5. Man, this was the stretch where I thought the Jays would've been able to really make some hay, but they look cooked. Not enough team depth and the core players are looking worn down.
  6. There's no way he's back next year, is there?
  7. That's the first I've heard of the NFT angle. I really don't see that flying, but who knows. I mean, what would be the point? Plus, a lot of the most sought after cards are the autograph and relic inserts. Part of the fun with sports cards is that it's a tangible item. A lot of the community revolves around the sports cards expos and LCS's and that kind of thing. Also, card breaks online are very popular. Digital cards would take the entire fun out of it. Would be madness! haha:p
  8. There's no doubt about it. Baseball card sales have been having a major resurgence. The hobby is booming and Topps with their baseball cards are the biggest name in the game. It's also a classic brand that many collectors grew up buying when they were kids so there's a brand loyalty aspect that comes into play. Seems to me like it's a if it's not broke, don't fix it type of situation but I guess MLB sees the hobby resurgence and thinks "hey, we can get a bigger piece of the pie". An unrelated point is that Topps has really upped their production levels for the 2021 releases and they're cranking out cards at unprecedented rate and some industry experts worry that it may be leading to another junk-wax era like they experienced around 87-95. So I think it's only a matter of time before the bubble bursts again and Fanatics gets the license in 2025. A lot could change by then.
  9. Yeah, UD is the most boring product. Same thing year after year. I thought Topps was crushing the sports card space with MLB, strange.
  10. It really sucks that the main sports media company in the country owns the team... Zauny and Bobcat are the only SN analysts that I can remember who were ever fair in their analysis.
  11. That was the worst in-game managing I've seen. The infielders were so close in, they should've had him pull back the bunt and take a swing. No point in bunting when it's that obvious.
  12. Oh yeah, the "ship is sinking" thing. Well, to Gibby's credit, Hillebrand was kind of a renown for being a nuisance. That's ancient news tho, the last time around went smoothly.
  13. lol what are you talking about? All I can think of is Ted Lilley and that was all on Ted. Guy was barking about being pulled after giving up 5 runs with a bunch of guys still on base.
  14. I dunno man. I really believe he'd love another kick at the can. He's still only 59 years old
  15. Lol it boggles my mind to this day. It's not like Showalter's some dummy, he's a bright baseball mind... One of the worst big game calls I've seen in my life.
  16. Honest question... Why don't they bring back Gibby? The team's ready to compete again. He's out of a job and would undoubtedly love to come back for the Jays again. Seems like a no-brainer. It's a young team, we need a skip with some big league experience and who's experienced some post-season success.
  17. The Blue Jays have the worst local baseball reporters in all of MLB... I get that it's a hockey country, but my god, these guys are all spineless jellyfish.
  18. When are these guys going to start taking some heat? Their bullpen composition is a dumpster fire
  19. Well put. Seems like they put more attention on name recognition rather than who was the better arm. Huge failure from Atkins to not better address the pen.
  20. Yeah buddy, the Wednesday game really stuck in my craw. I had 100 bucks on a few parlays all tied to the Jays. All the morning bets hit and I had the Jays game taped and when I was watching it I was like "WTF!? Valera batting 6th!? No Dickerson in the lineup against the shitballer righty?" And then I was literally yelling at the TV when Berrios was pulled early and again when he rolled with BRAD HAND to face the heart of the Nats order. It was one of those palpable moments when you just KNOW the pitcher's going to blow it and aren't even upset or shocked when he does because you're mentally prepared for it. My own fault tho, one should never make a bet before the lineups are announced.
  21. Soto and Bell are the heart of the lineup and pretty much the 2 guys you gotta manage the bullpen around. We've all seen enough of Hand by now to realize he's not the guy to roll with during the most crucial moment of the game. Montoyo made the same mistake against The Mets when he didn't put the attention that was needed on Alonso. Charlie has 0 in game instincts, it's insane.
  22. lmao I guess Ricky's Baseball Central hosting performance has seeped into my unconsciousness.
