    It means he has pitched a QS his last 4-5 starts but just not getting wins and had some bad luck with D/BAIP etc.. That is all.. We don’t care about Ws, as a stat, but optics wise he has been pitching better than the casual stats.

    I don’t think Arroyo is same level as Martinez. Martinez is a FV50 and Arroyo a 40+, the other 2 guys are RP/SP. I think it would be more like Hilrado

    Moreno recently. However, Marte has been a very high spec for longer. I think he might have lost a little helium though and let guys like Moreno pass him. Probably why the Mariners were willing to deal him. Yes, he would be our Moreno.

    Hope isn't a viable plan. We need to assume based on modern day pitcher trends that we will incur injuries to our core SPs and BP. We need more depth. The Teams with the best depth will win the race...

    Many teams could beat that. Not enough value and not enough pitching IMO. I also heard this afternoon they are looking for 5 vice 4. It is not our top 4 prospects in a vacuum, we have to beat out other Team’s prospects.

    I agree, we should see what happens at the deadline. Unlike Beeston, I am pretty sure Shapiro is vetoing or approving trade deals and not just from a financial perspective..

    If the players are cool with the new turf, then you are right it is a non-issue.. The issue of grass vs turf was an issue previously in FA etc, so that is why it was an important issue.. I am not sure what the current perception is of the turf. I assume the fact we signed the injury prone Springer, it is not an issue anymore...

    That sucks, he is one of my favorite if not favorite spec SPs. The TJ will also probably affect the Marlin's willingness to move pitchers, which also sucks for us...

    My reference was to AJ Burnett and B. J Ryan... I want us to get another Marlin's SP and an O's closer this year, for real!! I have been a Blue Jay fan since as long as I recall. First year I recall the team and knew what was going on was 83. I was at Exibition stadium the night before the clinch in 85 ready to charge the field.. My opinions on this board are derived from watching the Jays make the playoffs or near to it a hell of a lot in the 80's and 90's and not being able to get over the hump getting beat down by the A's, losing with a 3-1 lead to the Royals, losing to the Tigers down the stretch..until 92/93... In other words, I was learning about playoff success and failure from a fan perspective before half this board was born... I was just messing with you FYI. One of my greatest offseason experiences was the Winter Meetings when JPR did all the big signings, Good times!!
