  1. This entire pointless argument (that you started for reasons I can't ascertain) started when I complained that the torpedo bat in combination with Yankee Stadium was making a mockery of competitive integrity. Your response to this was that both of Yankee Stadium and torpedo bats have been around for decades so I shouldn't care. The "proof" you provided to prove that torpedo bats were somehow irrelevant as a recent occurrence in MLB was to provide a video showing an aluminum bat. This may be a shocker for you but MLB uses wooden bats. It's entirely possible that this aluminum bat served as inspiration for the current wooden MLB bats, or it could be more of an unintentional occurrence where the new bat was created without prior knowledge of the aluminum bat of yesteryear. As far as I can see wooden torpedo bats (which is the only type remotely relevant to MLB) are a recent invention. Whether the concept existed in aluminum training bats doesn't change when the current wooden/MLB approved bat was conceived.
  2. I haven't been able to find a single piece of evidence that points to the current bat known as the torpedo bat having been around for more than a handful of years. There have been plenty of other bats that had unusual shaped barrels over the years but the current bat is a new creation.
  3. Yeah this one was frustrating to say the least. The home plate umpire was horribly inconsistent pitch to pitch, the bullpen didn't get the job done, the team left a million runners on base, Springer left with apparent injury, Schneider didn't use Hoffman with the game tied heading into the 9th inning etc.
  4. Not having Brett Cecil certainly complicated things for the Blue Jays but it's not true that was the only reason that they lost the series.
  5. Don't try to pretend that you wouldn't have been livid if the front office handed Vlad $300 million coming off of a 1 win season.
  6. A largely slap hitting team still beat that team in the playoffs though. That goes to show that that the randomness of the MLB playoffs is the great equalizer despite how things look on paper heading into a series.
  7. The team is down an important reliever in Swanson. If/when he comes back Fluharty will likely find his way back to AAA.
  8. The middle relief runs allowed didn't help but the team lost primarily because they failed to plate a single run.
  9. Why is that? The MLB torpedo bat currently being used was in fact invented a couple of years ago by a physicist employed by the Yankees.
  10. The bat being used by MLB players presently was in fact invented a couple of years ago. I even linked an article outlining when it was created. The fact that there was an aluminum bat with a similar looking barrel does nothing to change when the current MLB torpedo bat was invented.. This isn't that hard, try to keep up.
  11. Notice how I used words like "may be" in my statement? That's far from a definitive statement, time to brush up on your reading skills a tad.
  12. Oh you totally proved me wrong, MLB have obviously been using torpedo bats for decades and an aluminum bat with this type of barrel is concrete proof.
  13. That's not true. The Torpedo bat was invented a year or two ago according to this article: https://www.mlb.com/news/aaron-leanhardt-discusses-invention-of-torpedo-bats
  14. It's not like Yankee Stadium wasn't already making a mockery out of the integrity of the sport along comes the Torpedo bat.
  15. I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but you should go all board sheriff on this Yarbrough situation.
  16. I was going for the world record on run on sentences.
  17. If this happened with the Blue Jays the exact same group of fans that is so incensed over the Blue Jays decision to let a mediocre replacement level longman type go to the Yankees would also be super pissed at the front office if Yarbrough had this type of blowup as a member of the Blue Jays.
  18. I might be inventing a quote that he never actually used, but I think that Buck Martinez would suggest that Easton Lucas looked really starterish in his season debut.
  19. I think Giminez's contract is pretty friendly to both sides. If Gimenez blossoms back into a star the deal starts to look team friendly, but if he bounces back to 2023 level 4 FWAR it looks very fair to both parties.
  20. I think Wagner has potential to hit a ton of doubles as the exit velocities are solid enough. I had a peak at his Statcast numbers and he's really struggling against the heater with a .215 xwOBA against the heater. That trend is going to need to reverse if he's to continue to enjoy success.
  21. Jays have already offered Vlad a truckload of money. I think he's most likely going to receive a rude awakening in free agency.
  22. Giminez very well may be morphing back into a star player in front of our eyes this season.
  23. I'd still be totally on board with a Bo extension at this point. Vlad's shown himself to be a delusional greedy idiot and it's entirely possible the team may have dodged a massive bullet with Vlad turning down the already well above market value extension offer.
  24. Vlad has actually been getting under the ball a tad too much so far. Leading up to the game his groundball was easily at a career best 35%, which is a 10% drop from his previous best.
  25. Well this game certainly went the way everyone expected. Lucas handily outpitches Mackenzie Gore Gore is roughed up by the Blue Jays Springer dinger off of Gore Several hits from Straw off of the bench It's really easy to feel good about this team right now. Once Santander and Vlad start chipping in with the home run ball this offense could be downright dangerous. I was very impressed with Lucas, as his fastball in particular was a weapon up in the zone and the command was very solid as well.
