  1. Apparently Tanaka walked off after a delay, so hopefully he’s ok.
  2. Good luck with that, if you hate being a mod now wait until the board is popular again.
  3. You’re going to need more mods.
  4. A lot of soccer teams have done this too. Some teams have also put up screens so that fans be there on a zoom call and players can celebrate with them.
  5. Yeah, just look at the drop off from previously regular posters, and the traffic in gdts while we've been rebuilding.
  6. My friends who are Leeds fans (it's where I live) are very nervous but I think both teams will be alright and make it!
  7. This thread should probably be stickied by the way.
  8. Wigan have gone into administration - they won't be the last. My team are non-league and would go out of business in a month if they had to return to playing but without a crowd.
  9. I can still see them, so unless I’m corrected it looks like just the 3 mentioned in the OP are gone.
  10. “Political references are not allowed” - does that include avatars?
  11. With the Jays starting to get good again, in a year or two there will be many people wanting to post, both brand new and old lapsed posters. Hopefully they will won’t be put off as much now!
  12. Thank you, thank you, thank you! This board had become so toxic that a lot of the time it just wasn’t fun debating anymore, no matter what the subject. We were all brought here for our shared love of the baseball and that’s what’s important. I really hope we can have some great discussions going forward. One small thing, it’d be nice to have a new “news” topic on the off topic board to discuss things that don’t fit elsewhere, but appreciate if the mods feel it’d be too easy to slip into bad habits. Maybe one to revisit in the future!
  13. Yeah that's the same handicap that sports like tennis have. For sports like soccer, everyone can play without specialist equipment, and if you enjoy it or are good enough you can then start with organised facilities. That first step is difficult anyway, and added to the poor marketing of MLB, kids are more likely to pick another sport.
  14. Hopefully the system will be changed in the next CBA anyway.
  15. Liverpool deserved champions and a lesson for teams like Man U in how to spend wisely. A few years ago they had a dodgy defence so spent £200m on Alisson, Van Dijk, Fabinho and Keita, and then have just added complimentary pieces. Next year‘s title race will be really interesting, especially if Man City’s European ban is upheld.
  16. IMO it’ll take a player (or possibly coach) dying to cancel the season.
  17. Why take any precautions when your imaginary friend can protect you? Ignorant twat. Pisses me off so much - all the people who have died must just have not preyed enough according to his logic.
  18. IMO in a normal season our baseline would be around .500. We've still got questions about the outfield, bullpen, rotation health, and infield defence. But over 35 wins has a good chance of at least a wildcard this year. A couple of hot weeks and suddenly anyone could make it!
  19. Such a good tournament, and yeah we really should have won! If Gazza was a bit fitter he'd have scored in the semi from that cross that he stretched for and just missed!
  20. Yeah I think the FA Cup and Champions League final are going to be especially weird!
  21. Tbf it's good that every game matters - one bad week could mess up a whole season. But yeah, not having expanded playoffs for this short season is a big mistake IMO.
  22. It's going to be interesting seeing how they use both the depth starters and the bullpen generally. With no minor leagues and such a short MLB season a traditional use of a reliever would see them barely used (20 innings at the most?). Perhaps more bullpen days / openers will be used.
