  1. Hopefully this doesn’t upset Vlad as he’s always said he wanted to stay at 3rd. Got to assume he doesn’t mind, otherwise he’d have tried harder to lose weight! The front office warned him this would happen. Fingers crossed he can now concentrate on what he’s good at.
  2. “We have at least 7 major league starters, so there’s no room for him in the rotation. Then we realised after letting them pitch that most of them are wank, so we decided to give Pearson a chance.”
  3. Who is going to post FYSMC?
  4. The feed has Shaw effectively saying he’s not prepared to go into quarantine every time the team crosses the border. Stroman and Grichuk getting involved too. 5. Champions League draw: RB Leipzig vs Atletico Madrid Atalanta vs Paris St-Germain Real Madrid or Manchester City vs Lyon or Juventus Napoli or Barcelona vs Chelsea or Bayern Munich Happy to stick with my original picks of PSG and Man City, but Bayern will likely be helped by the new format and the fact that they've been back playing longer than the other teams.
  6. IMO the Angels are exactly the type of team to benefit from the short season. Over 162 games their pitching is going to cost them. But if Ohtani, Trout and Rendon all have hot streaks at the same time you could see them going on a winning run and sneaking a wildcard. Tough division though, so they can't afford to get off to a bad start.
  7. Adell could be the answer to the Angel's outfield issues:
  8. Shi is speculating that virtually the entire outfield has been taken out by covid.
  9. Another bonus for England with the Euros being delayed by a year - Mason Greenwood has been great this year and will be in the England squad soon. Not sure he'd have made it in without a delay. Arguably we'll have the best depth for forwards in Europe, though of course France are still very strong.
  10. The Champions League quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will all be held in Lisbon from 12 to 23 August behind closed doors. Got to be honest, not a fan of this. A knockout cup competition just isn't the same without fans.
  11. As well - most of the moves that haven't worked out have mitigating circumstances. Injuries delaying trades, acquiring dross and putting those players on the 25/26 man mainly being small risk moves, questionable free agent contracts/extensions not being financially crippling. That said, IMO this season would have been vital for Atkins' future in normal circumstances. A poor season would have put real pressure on him. But now even if we have a shocking record, before we know it the season will be over so 2021 becomes the important year for him. Outside of the major league team, everything is going well so IMO Shapiro should have a job for as long as he wants.
  12. Hopefully we get at least highlights.
  13. I love Vancouver as a city and a Western Canadian team would be cool.
  14. Alternatively, that’s one way to get rid of the Rays!
  15. The second team wouldn't even beat the Orioles!
  16. Even the most optimistic Jays fans (Hi Spanky!) don't believe we'll finish above the Yankees. They had loads of injuries last year and still won 100 games. The divisional split screws us more than most, not just because of our schedule, but teams with easier schedules have a better chance of going on a good run (oh to have Cleveland's fixtures!). So it's going to be extremely hard to grab a wildcard place. Over 35 wins is what you're looking for to have a good chance at a wildcard. A bad start, and it'd take a miracle run for us to recover.
  17. Yeah in such a short season if the elite teams get off to a good start then the race is basically over for any team that has a bad start.
  18. Alternatively if we ride a hot streak then the season will be really fun!
  19. One good thing with the schedule is that a couple of weeks in and we'll know if we have any chance of the playoffs. If we lose most games (as on paper we should) hopefully there's more chance of roster decisions being made on looking to the future. E.g. giving people like Merryweather and Borucki starts, Alford in the outfield etc. The kind of moves that probably short term aren't successful, but have a (small) chance of producing an asset for future seasons.
  20. I bet Panda wishes he could turn back the clock 4 years to when he was in his twenties: https://i.postimg.cc/VLZyQvxZ/94-F73-EA0-1-A04-48-DB-AAA3-4-FE97387-CEF9.jpg
