  1. Meaning no one from the Front Office went on record that the self-imposed payroll cap will be 140m
  2. There's no evidence of what the Jays payroll will actually end up being. If they trade Revere and plug in Pompey then the payroll will only be ~144m. That's only 4m more than the rumored cap.
  3. Jays will go after Kazmir. No draft pick compensation attachment. Had a history with Shapiro and the Indians when they decided to give him a second chance. Adds another Lefty to the rotation. 3yr/48m.
  4. Iwakuma gone to the Dodgers per Jim Bowden.
  5. How could you not want this guy.
  6. Don't fret, I have it on good sources that Shapiro is exploring the slavery market.
  7. I think he is saying a player is worth what the market dictates for him, in other words capitalism. Its about 7 million more than I thought but he pretty much got what he was projected to get
  8. There's no way to gurantee a World Series. In fact any of the 10 teams that make it to the playoffs year in and year out can win the World Series and I wouldn't be surprised. The playoffs are a crapshoot. Even with Price the odds are still more likely than not to lose. Look at the 2006 Cardinals, 2014 Giants, 2015 Royals etc.
  9. Its Beane's way or the horribly situated highway.
  10. Jays need to poach him. stick it to KC.
  11. Ask and you shall receive. http://tipofthetower.com/2015/12/06/toronto-blue-jays-rumors-chris-davis-drawing-interest-from-toronto/
  12. Imagine this in middle of the congo-lineup.
  13. Pillar for Hendricks
  14. This is one example where celebrity endorsement is essential. Only way customers will even bother is when they ask the aisle clerk "where's that s*** that Joe Carter hocks?"
  15. Eppler or Atkins. Polling commences immediately.
  16. Cliff Lee AND Co. meaning there would be corresponding moves to the bullpen and even the rotation.
  17. Chavez is probably traded by then. With a new GM its conceivable that Atkins trades Chavez back for bullpen relief to a desperate team without the negative press. All the while signing guys like Cliff Lee and co.
  18. I think he is talking about the rumored self-imposed 140m that media outlets are reporting.
  19. Stress eating is the only real indicator of work ethic
  20. He will probably be looking for s starting catcher gig. And will be given +3m so too expensive for Jays blood. We gotta find a guy that can catch a knuckleball.
  21. Ortiz (16m) and Buchholz (13m) are off the books next season. Thats David Price money they can and probably will spend on an Offensive Threat with Dumbrowski. Only thing is the`y will undoubtable put Hanram at DH after they realized what a failed experiment it was for him at first base. So they will want 1st base offense with good defense so they dont have a repeat of 2016. Only guy that somewhat fits that profile is Moreland and he will be a far cry from Ortiz. Their OF will be crowded and the INF are spoken for so there wouldn`t really be anywhere else to plug in a FA.
  22. Pablo and Hanram are far from locks to being productive next year. Also the still relatively unproven young guns the Sox have, primarily JBJ/Swihart/Castillo, can easily turn into busts, struggle for seasons before breaking out or have a much lower ceiling than projected. On the other hand they can all become all stars but i doubt they all break out next season and interrupt the Jays window. Plus with the Chris Young signing either JBJ or Castillo is on the outside looking in.
  23. I've been around the game long enough to know there's no need to worry until proven otherwise. There are still a lot of questions marks at least just for next season i.e. Pablo, HanRam, Swihart, Young, castillo, Bucholtz, Porcello, Miley, EdRo, Owens, Kelly. Also a lesser extent when it comes to JBJ because there's enough of a chance he takes a dip offensive to mention but he provides ample value defensively. And I know by now we learned not to doubt David Ortiz but he is on the wrong side of 40 and can fall off a cliff at a moments notice.
  24. Is it really that much? Is there a break down that says as much?
