  1. Pretty underwhelming. Perhaps being conservative this year at the trade deadline will end up being the smart play. I didn’t want Thor but only because I expected more. Are we better than yesterday? Yes. So let’s play the remainder of the season and see how this all plays out. But Whit Merrifield? Wtf?
  2. Unless Merrifield can pitch.
  3. Max Castillo is more valuable to this team than Merrifield.
  4. So Groshan’s value is basically nil?
  5. The Padres are an enigma. If they do indeed land Soto with the intention of extending him long term how do they justify it financially? Between Tatis, Machado and Soto that is a huge expenditure. Each team gets on average $66 million from the tv/broadcast rights. The rest of the revenue they generate on their own. Even with rich owners it doesn’t seem financially feasible. Perhaps a salary cap is inevitable?
  6. A career year. Everyone seems to get better in pinstripes.
  7. Prospect = Suspect.....until proven otherwise.
  8. I'm not sanguine on the thought of Thor as a Jay. I would take Iggy though.
  9. He's looked durable this year yes. I was hoping for something more though. We're in the playoffs regardless.
  10. Old African proverb: The lion that roars never kills, the lion that kills never roars.
  11. What is the upside here for the Jays? edit: other than giving the folks at sportsnet something to talk about.
  12. Put on the pinstripes for the first time and you're great for the first six months.
  13. Iglesias would be a good get. Plus he can throw sunflower seeds with the best of them. For Syndergaard on the other hand.....
  14. Vazquz gone to the Astros.
  15. I'm surprised the Bosox haven't moved any of their guys yet. I expect at least Eovaldi and Vazquez to get moved.
  16. Yep, it's Cashman giving Atkins the middle finger.
  17. Atkins being told Shapiro is on line two:
  18. NYY so far: Benintendi, Montas, Trivino, Effros, and they might not be done.
  19. Alright, so let's get Rodon, a lefty bat and shore up that pen. Right?
  20. I think it has become apparent that the Jays are looking for a starter. I would bet that they are in on at least one of Rodon or Montas. The only problem I see here is that the Yankess wanted Castillo and are now going to go hard on Montas driving the already inflated market up (thanks M's). I think Atkins wants to close on a starter before consumating a deal for bullpen help which is why we have yet to hear about a move. If NYY get Montas (they seem willing to overpay) , and Rodon is not available Atkins will move quickly on solidifying the pen with the deals he already has in place ready to go with a LH bat as a chaser. Pick your poison at this point.
  21. I don't think he was as good as his line reads. Some loud outs along the way today.
  22. Okay Atkins your move before next game.
