  1. Even though as stated in the preceding posts that merely changing the GM will not lead to systemic changes throughout the organization; this is true but if we're at the stage where we're tearing down things, it will require immediate and impactful decisions to be made regarding headcount and who's on the bus. The immediate decisions on a rebuild are key to the overall strategy. So if you're going to dispose of the current GM and get a new one, you damn well better be sure you got the right guy at the steering wheel of this bus because the changes he makes in the next 2 years will have a devastating impact if they're wrong for years to come.
  2. ....but if you can't pencil in a lineup properly:confused:
  3. Tonight Schneider sits Varsho due to the lefty and proceeds to pencil in Keirmaier. Springer has been a black hole and yet there he is batting leadoff. Like does he want to win games or what?
  4. My reworking of a Tolkien poem for you BJMB members: Where now are the pitching and the defense? Where is the home run ball that was leaving the yard? Where is the helm and the hauberk, and Bo's bright hair flowing? Where is the barrel on the bat, and the exit velocity going? They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow; The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow. edit: I thought of this because the guy who played King Theoden in the movies (Bernard Hill) died recently. He recited something like this in movie. So a bit of a homage to him. RIP.
  5. I think he will make adjustments as he matures. The best of Bo Bichette is yet to come, imo.
  6. I think you're both wrong here. He has too much natural talent and is a smart hitter. Unlike Vladdy he will sort himself out.
  7. I've seen this happen in my professional life too. People who don't have the fortitude to "be their own man" end up getting s*** canned anyway. Schneider has been managing scared for over two seasons now. He is terrified what would happen to the clubhouse if he dropped Springer to 6th in the batting order. He is the author of his own demise. Can't blame it on Atkins. He didn't man up.
  8. The first two are possible I guess. The third? You of all people should realize by now that Biggio is INDESTRUCTABLE!
  9. Vladdy is going to get two managers fired before he hits his mid twenties! Who says young people can't accomplish big things?
  10. Problem is that we have no internal candidates that I see who would be impactful. May as well ride it out until seasons end with Schneider as painful as that would be.
  11. Something has got to give for this team. Painful.
  12. 8 Career grannies for Harper....what a stud.
  13. Did Kody Clemens get in his old mans medicine cabinet?

  15. We're still in this game.
  16. Whitt is going to steal second and third.
  17. Springer is a liability. Best thing that can happen to this team is that he turns an ankle is out for about three weeks.
  18. Kirk missed that strike three pitch by about a foot.
  19. Our challenges suck...hope he's out.
  20. Chris Sanchez sinker ball vs Vladdy's penchant for ground balls = Many worms will be massacred this night.
  21. Springer still batting leadoff.
  22. Berríos will bring his 4-2 record and MLB-best 1.44 ERA into play tonight. With each passing game his FIP climbs a bit more, now up to 4.01, which is a bit concerning going forward compared to his sparkling ERA. He finished last season with a 3.99 FIP, and his career mark is 4.04, so he’s very much still in line with what he has been. If he can bump up the strikeouts while keeping his home runs where they’re at, he’s going to be just fine. The Phillies will send out left hander Cristopher Sánchez, a former swingman and AAA-shuttle rider who has finally earned his place in the rotation and is doing quite well. He is just 1-3, but his 3.68 ERA and even better 2.94 FIP tell a bit of a different story. He has had some up and down starts this year, but in general he’s about league average for getting strikeouts, a touch worse than league average in giving up walks, and he just gave up his first home run of the year in his last start.
  23. May 7 Vladdy - 2 Points Bichette - 3 Points Schneider- 3 Points- Dylan Turner - 3 Points Springer - 4 Points Jansen - 4 Points - mphenhef Kirk - 6 Points- Omar Kiner-Falefa - 7 Points Kiermaier - 7 Points The Bench (Any PH): 10 Points
