  1. That's the other problem. He insists on playing the field. The Yankees want to DH him as much as possible. Apparently he complains everytime he sees himself listed as the DH. Great hitter but this guy is a big f***ing whiner.
  2. Perhaps but other contenders will be on him. I just don't see it happening after his very public comments bashing Toronto's turf. We offered him quite a bit more money a few years back but ultimately choose to play in St. Louis. The only way a Beltran move makes sense if they bringing him in to DH. He doesn't want to play the OF in Toronto. This would mean Encarnacion would have to play 1B everyday.
  3. But I don't think its going to be as much as you think either. In these trade situations teams always look at comparable trades. Especially what the Reds got in return becomes a negotiating tool.
  4. Beltran doesn't want to play here. Hes made it clear hes not playing on turf anymore than he has too.
  5. Well we know hes going to get traded its just a matter of time. It's probably precautionary incase of a trade. You don't want something minor to grow into something problematic. He will be traded in the next couple of weeks.
  6. Its still 12 hours till the Blue Jays play. f***ing West Coast.
  7. This board is candy land compared to most places on the internet. As long you don't ignore advanced stats and don't bring up pitcher wins, and batting average as arguing points nobody really attacks you. Most fights on this board stem from non baseball related issues and atleast one party is intoxicated.
  8. My thoughts exactly. You atleast want to have some other prospects to sell to the fan base that you can develop and maybe hit on one of them. I don't know how you can be a fan of the San Diego Padres. Its an organization constantly in flux. They are Oakland without the playoff appearances.
  9. Oh ok. Yea I just haven't heard his name for awhile. Forgot he was on the 40.
  10. What's with all the Brady Dragmire hate? Other than the obvious reasons.
  11. Seems odd the Padres couldn't get a couple more prospects. Even if they were just average ones.
  12. Pomeranz is a great add. People want to s*** on his fastball fine its not even that bad while his off-speed is quite good. Hasn't had issues getting swing and miss this season. "Top pitching prospect" or not hes in A-Ball. Red Sox farm system isn't exactly lacking talent. Pomeranz comes with control as well. Now since the Padres are in full fire sale mode. Lets go get Upton. I wonder if anyone will blow them out of the water for Myers although I wouldn't trade him its the Padres.
  13. Lol exactly I don't get excited about this anymore.
  14. Don't really get the fuss on Moss. Hes having a decent power season don't think he will come as cheap as others suggest as well. Definitely don't want to commit anymore than 2 years.
  15. Hopefully more
  16. As long as the Red Sox get punished all will be right in the world.
  17. No they can't. He will be fined.
  18. There is absolutely nothing to suggest Greene will be ready anytime soon. He got his promotion to Double-A again. But he was far from great in Dunedin.
  19. Considering we know exactly what we're getting with Dickey its not an end of the world scenario. We know we won't be involved much in the free agent market outside of our own free agents. And if we lose Edwin and Bautista I expect Shatkins to look at platoon options and low risk bullpen help. People here are apparently not interested in the likes of Dexter Fowler and Josh Reddick so getting a guy like Melvin Upton Jr at the deadline with Padres eating some salary next year will flll atleast one of our holes. He can play all OF positions. Enough power for either corner and can run. The beauty of it all he won't cost a s*** load and the Padres want to move him and will fly under the radar while teams chase Pomeranz and Myers.
  20. So offer him a qualifying offer and be satisfied with whatever he chooses.
  21. Saunders said Edwin sings the Canadian anthem every game. “I was singing it in my head,” Saunders said. “I was caught up in the moment, just signing the anthem. I was listening to Eddie [Edwin Encarnacion] singing it. He sings the Canadian anthem every time. I must have just been caught up in the moment. I didn’t even realize that.”
