    Draft eligible sophomore has leverage of going back for his Junior year and back in the draft next year. Don’t see how it would work in our budget. Its already looking pretty tight.

    They also got the 43rd ranked player by MLB.com with the 88th pick. Rankings mean nothing and vary by scouting services. Stop getting hung up on them.

    Signing Groshans under slot. Conine will probably sign around slot or just under. But will likely see senior signs through rounds 5-10 for next to nothing bonuses to secure their top picks. We just took a senior catcher in the 5th round. Its not an unfamiliar strategy for the Blue Jays.

    I’m not talking about recent memory Raptors that have had picks in the 20’s. I’m talking about the Araujo and Bargnani days. Raptors have drafted a lot of dog s*** in the first round.

    I don’t disagree with anything you said. I was honestly just thinking of reasons why he would drop so far without any obvious medical issues reported by anyone. I have followed him pretty closely since we didn’t sign him. He loves Florida all this guy does is Fish, Golf, and play Baseball. I was just thinking of all scenarios that’s all. He will sign and move quickly.

    Medical was one side of the story. Blue Jays would have signed him at a lesser dollar figure. Plus he never had health problems in college. He seemed to be one of the safest bets in this draft. Him dropping was a huge shock. He was ranked #1 going into the year. Hes not the first junior pitcher to go back for his senior year because he didn’t get what he wants.

    Singer could want to go back for his senior season. He was pretty firm on going to college when we drafted him out of High School. Unless he gets the number he wants he probably said he will go back to school. Who really knows though. You would think we would have heard about a medical issue by now.

    I love Jordan Groshans swing. Hes huge as well 6’4 with smoth actions.
