And this is fine perspective to have. Obviously both were under performing but it’s also only been a couple of months of under performance. SWR started the season on fire and then has struggled with command and lost velo on the Fastball. Austin Martin has been banged up and yea maybe the power is concern to some but it’s hard for me to imagine him not hitting. And the position versatility with high on base percentage was so intriguing to me because we just don’t have guys who get on base at high clips.
I don’t like the trade. But it’s fine if others do. My dislike comes from the fact that it’s a move that was a little early to make. Without an extension it’s bit risking for my liking because at this point in time I don’t view the Jays as contenders. And this is very much a win now move. I understand we still have a full year of Berriors but we could very well lose him after that. Giving up both your best position player prospect and pitching prospect for a non elite player stings for me. If we made that trade for a Turner sign me up. That’s an elite player at his position. We gave up a lot for #2 Starter. If it was Martin or SWR and a host of lower level prospects would have been way more comfortable.
