Nobody’s a fan boy lol. I think everyone is intrigued at the idea of Bellinger figuring it out again and having him do it here while playing great Defense and being an asset on the Bases in the process. He’s to good of a talent to just be a pumpkin now. There’s so much upside in a one year signing.
I love his swing so I wanna see him unload at the Rogers Centre with his shoulder fully healthy.
I think they need atleast one long term Outfield option that’s not George Springer. And theres definitely trade options. Jays are in position to do both long term and short term things in order to bolster the roster.
I’m more in the camp right now that I hope we can do better but would be happy with Bellinger experiment if he proves to the best option in terms of cost and value. The Jays main position player goal this off-season is finding someone you want to play CF for the next 4 or 5 years. That is more likely through a trade. Something definitely has to give with the Diamondbacks OF situation.
I can’t imagine any scenario someone gives a First Baseman that kind of contract. It would be completely unprecedented. I would expect him to get something way more in line with a Matt Olson that goes slightly North of $200m at the most. Unless he goes back to what he was with the bat in 21. He barely even resembled that player in 22.
The problem with Conforto is he can’t play CF. Well atleast he shouldn’t. And we need someone who can play CF. That should be the target. He’s not the worst case scenario with the bat being left-handed with some power and on base. But he’s not a very good Outfielder. And we already have LF only player on the roster with Gurriel.
Vinny Capra or whatever his name is was just non tendered as well so hes also off the 40-man. He wasn’t even arbitration eligible they just didn’t even renew him.
Hopefully the latter. Really not that comfortable overpaying Nimmo. I would also rather they focus on someone who can be projected to play CF for many seasons. Nimmo is someone who has missed a ton of games in his career and is probably better suited in a corner already. If Nimmo can stay healthy hes not a bad fit. High on base lefty bat is something we need but not at a premium price. His career has been so bizarre so far because when he’s played hes been very good. But hes only played 2 full season in his career. 2018 and 2022.
Everything about Bellinger’s situation is unprecedented. To be such a dominant player and win MVP so young. Only to struggle immensely and get DFA’d before he entered his “Prime” which is for most players is Age 27-32. He’s still only 26 it’s really wild. His talent is still very tantalizing because how good of a Fielder and Base Runner he is. He will stick around the league for awhile for those aspects alone. But obviously he’s going to have to show some turn around with the bat this to keep making money.
I would probably be comfortable with something in the $8-12M range if it cost a little more I would be fine with it. I don’t see us getting a team option with Boras as his agent.
I definitely expect the Yankees to pursue him especially if they lose Judge. He might be the easiest pivot for them for one year.
Honestly I would be super down for this. I will take the shot at him recreatie himself here. He can play all OF positions and 1B while Springer and Vlad cycle through DH. Left-handed bat with big power upside. Even in his s*** form he might hit 25-30 Homeruns with half his games at Rogers Centre.
Guess they are grabbing Gio for depth because Rondon barely plays Baseball anymore.
I really don’t want to see the Angels sign anyone significant anymore. They seem to turn into absolute pumpkins when they do.
