  1. Would be cool. But nobody reputable is covering this story. Just don’t understand why the Mets would let Alonso walk at 3/75. Boras wanted 5+ and 100m+. Boras using Jays to force the Mets to come back to the table. If those terms were on the table for the Mets he would be a Met right now.
  2. Would be kinda sick having 3 guys that could hit 40 Homeruns in the lineup. Basically a recreated version of Donaldson, Baustia, and Encarnacion.
  3. No not Soto or nothing. Jays needed atleast 2 bats. The 4th and 5th year make me a bit nervous. But the terms of the deal are otherwise pretty reasonable. Both Vlad and him will need to DH alot. Will see they needed power. Still need another bat. Preferably someone who can reliably play an actual position well.
  4. This would be ideal.
  5. God forbid I have higher hopes lol.
  6. The deferral was nice to read. A future Rogers problem.
  7. 5 years for Santander is crazy. Desperation really has set in.
  8. Oh yes please. One of the best to ever do it.
  9. Honestly this looks like an insane overpay. Tanner Scott is very good but he’s had a lot of command issues in the past. Could actually see this blowing up in their face. But if they defer half the contract they probably won’t give a s***.
  10. I drank out of plastic straw today. And it was beautiful to experience freedom.
  11. We just got Myles Straw guys. No room in the Outfield for Santander. Time to move on.
  12. I wish I got paid for sucking at my job.
  13. It's very possible the Dodgers had a similar deal lined up for Straw and that bonus pool money and the Jays jumped on it first. In the game of leverage your only advantage is making it more difficult for the other party to get what they need but you still don't know the final outcome.
  14. The floor would be extremely important. You have to force markets like Cleveland and Pittsburgh to spend money or the system falls apart.
  15. Salary cap only punishes the players not the owners.
  16. He did the most boring thing he could do and that’s what makes me sad. But at the same time I can’t really blame him. It’s not good for Baseball. But at the same time what can they really do about it.
  17. So what international free agents did the Dodgers have lined up.
  18. If acquiring Straw helps net you Roki you take the L on the money all day and never think twice. You don’t even have to roster him. Sometimes you have to do things you don’t want to do in order to land your big fish. Plenty of holes to fill. But almost nobody on the free agent market can impact the top of your rotation like Roki can.
  19. Yea I don’t think you make this move unless you feel pretty confident. I think the Jays can still acquire a little over 1.4M more which means they could offer him over 10M. Wonder if they will try to max out their additional cap and ofcourse take away options from the Dodgers and Padres.
  20. He wants his own spotlight. He goes to the Dodgers he's Shohei's Ohtani's Japanese teammate. He goes to San Diego or Toronto he is the guy in those markets the Japanese media focuses on. I am thinking he signs with the Padres for a variety of reasons including the time zone, the weather, and the overall fit. It will be interesting to see what intrigues him so much about the Blue Jays. I guess the idea of him being a star on the only team in Canada has it's own allure to certain personalities.
  21. I think you wait him out. He doesn't really have any other major suitors and you don't want to be anywhere near 5 years with him. 2 or 3 with a higher AAV should get it done.
  22. Honestly a little disappointed by this. If he was going to pitch another Season I would prefer he finished his career in Detroit. Giants aren’t going anywhere so maybe he can join them at the Deadline. AL Central is so wide open especially with Cleveland blowing it up. Aka not wanting to pay anybody per usual. Probably between the Tigers and Royals,
