  3. I'm not sure you're as much of a contender if you let Price walk and don't replace him with an equal caliber of ace.
  4. Can't see it not being Kike L
  5. Some of us expected him to be bad. But to be fair let's give him a couple of years and see if he turns out around.
  6. The rest of us don't backpedal.
  7. What is this thread about? TV ratings going up (attendance numbers also going through the roof in a related story). The discussion is regarding how these impacts will impact business going forward... And how/if the new president can leverage it in 2016 and beyond. Some people are able to discuss both short term and long term.
  8. I think he can be counted on for 4-5 more good-to-great seasons.
  9. The payroll is fine. Here's what has rubbed me the wrong way... Rogers pulling the rug out from JP years ago and stayed cheap for a few years after. The 5 year max... Maybe it was Beeston's, but we see that Shapiro also believes in that kind of thing based on what we've read... I don't buy that Rogers isn't on board with those kind of shackles as well. AA being hamstringed last deadline with no funds (payroll parameters). Adding a few million for a couple of months when you're within striking distance should be an automatic. The whole having to pan handle for money to go after Santana. Completely desperate measures and an embarrassment. The only reason AA could add this year is because he held back payroll at the beginning of the year to save it for the deadline. Good on him... But it would be nice if he didn't have to do that and our completely loaded owners actually allowed him to go above and beyond when the team is in the hunt, and not have to handicap itself for the first two thirds of the season because they need to save it for later. I fully expect the Canadian dollar to be a reason for payroll issues... I expect the 5 year max to be in full effect, but they will say they'd waive it for the right player... And I don't believe this player exists. Payroll parameters will be in full effect and I feel Rogers will have learned nothing from the increased ticket sales, TV ratings, etc from this glorious run. I would give anything to be proven wrong. But my disdain for them is long and deep... And I need to see some real change to believe things won't play out this way. Feel free to bash on, but I don't trust them.
  10. As excited as many are for Shapiro, it's clear that a big reason he's here is that he's been in a cheapskate market and that's right up Rogers alley. They want someone in charge that's used to not having money cause they don't plan on increasing the payroll at all... Probably will go down due to the horrible dollar.
  11. I think his mother's name is Swallow.
  12. While I'm not an advocate of that generally speaking, that might not be a bad compromise for maybe a couple of trips through the rotation. Gives the pitchers an extra day off late in the season, gets stroman in to really see if he's ready, and doesn't remove anyone from the rotation that doesn't deserve to be removed as they're all doing a bang up job right now.
  13. You're right on the players involved. I heard Cleveland backed away.
  14. Thole. Dude shouldn't even be in the majors, let alone a contender.
  15. So Buehrle hadn't been very solid for this team in 2015 and hasn't given the team a chance on most nights?
  16. No. Didn't say you were pro getting stroman back in at all cost... Was just adding to your 'it's about winning' thought.
  17. So when you walk through the sporting goods in Canadian tire you sprout wood?
  18. Yes. And people are getting bent out of shape because they want stroman in the rotation so badly that they're forgetting that he hasn't pitched an inning in 2015 and will have 2 minor league rehab starts under his belt. For people that like advanced starts and probability an awful lot, this is taking a big chance by handing over 20% of your teams starts to a pitcher that is essentially in spring training now. If one of the starters were struggling that's one thing... But all five are giving you a chance to win right now. Now isn't the time to rock the boat. Is there a chance that stroman steps in and pitches just like he did to end last season? Yes. But there's also a chance that he needs more innings until he gets to that point. I'm not so sure that I'm willing to risk the division on it.
  19. It's all clear now.
  20. Why does anyone care what Yankees fans think?
