The payroll is fine.
Here's what has rubbed me the wrong way...
Rogers pulling the rug out from JP years ago and stayed cheap for a few years after.
The 5 year max... Maybe it was Beeston's, but we see that Shapiro also believes in that kind of thing based on what we've read... I don't buy that Rogers isn't on board with those kind of shackles as well.
AA being hamstringed last deadline with no funds (payroll parameters). Adding a few million for a couple of months when you're within striking distance should be an automatic.
The whole having to pan handle for money to go after Santana. Completely desperate measures and an embarrassment.
The only reason AA could add this year is because he held back payroll at the beginning of the year to save it for the deadline. Good on him... But it would be nice if he didn't have to do that and our completely loaded owners actually allowed him to go above and beyond when the team is in the hunt, and not have to handicap itself for the first two thirds of the season because they need to save it for later.
I fully expect the Canadian dollar to be a reason for payroll issues...
I expect the 5 year max to be in full effect, but they will say they'd waive it for the right player... And I don't believe this player exists.
Payroll parameters will be in full effect and I feel Rogers will have learned nothing from the increased ticket sales, TV ratings, etc from this glorious run.
I would give anything to be proven wrong. But my disdain for them is long and deep... And I need to see some real change to believe things won't play out this way.
Feel free to bash on, but I don't trust them.
