Networking certainly plays a role...but only in the context of...there's a hundred people out there that are presumably qualified...as a GM, maybe I hire the guy that didn't try to feel my wife up at a Christmas party last year. Just because you're connected and know a GM, or some people in baseball that doesn't mean you're going to be preferred if you're a nitwit. At this level, you have to be knowledgeable about the game, and know how to manipulate and work it, in order to get a sniff at a ML managing job.

He's not. Gibbons has forgotten more about baseball than we'll know. You can pretty much say that about any player, coach, or GM. Sometimes moves are made against the grain... And it could be for a thousand different reasons that we aren't even privy to... And yet we presume to know everything and have all the answers. I don't always agree with the moves that Gibby makes... But to think I'm more qualified to make them would be retarded.

Exactly. People just look for anything to get angry about when it doesn't turn out well...even if there's nothing there.

I think every member in the pen thinks they're the right one for the job and when they're out there they can get it done. That's how I want all of my relievers to think. I don't think he thought even for a second 'where's Osuna?' Didn't work out. It happens. The magic number is one number lower after tonight.

I'm sure he knows exactly what he needs to still work on. Admitting it to the media/public won't and shouldn't happen. If you admit to yourself that maybe you shouldn't be the one in there, you've already lost.

You want guys on this team that don't think they're the right guy for any situation? Every player on this team thinks they can get the job done whenever called on. I don't want a player that doesn't think that.
