He's allowed to sign wherever he wants. He can change his mind and sign with the Yankees or red sox if he wants. Getting mad because a media report isn't 100% accurate (when every other team is west coast) is a waste of energy.

I don't think he'll be dealt under any circumstance. I think ownership has already told that Shat that they want to create the illusion of contending. Trading JD doesn't fit in with that plan.

I don't think they care if a co worker losses their job. What I think might stop them is if there's any social media backlash from fans of said celebrity.... Or to a lesser extent, friends of the fired person giving them a hard time. Might not be worth it for them to speak up if there's hassling later.

Leafs were lucky to get the win. After the first period it was all Oil. Take the 2 points and try to play for more than 20 minutes on Saturday.

I really think a lot of people are grasping at straws and hoping that it's not about money, but I think you're fooling yourselves. Am I saying that he's going to sign with the team that offers him the absolute most? No. I'm not saying that. But the team that he does sign with will be one of the top few offers (and I'm sure the top few will be somewhat comparable in terms of numbers). The "extra" benefits will be what sways the decision...but the point is that I think you have to be in that Top 3-4 teams to be even considered. The Jays just don't have the cap room. But we're all going round and round in circles. We'll find out soon enough where he goes and what he signs for.

There are some great Japanese restaurants in Toronto. Surely that's the nugget that tips the scale in our favour. The truth is that he's going to receive significantly more money that Toronto can offer...and at the time of the presser, the talk will all be about the community, and the secondary benefits that lead to him signing in city X. They'll play it off as, it's not about the money...but he's still going to get paid more than what this team is able to offer.

I believe it was either Pat Quinn or Pat Burns that didn't get in right after they died also. It doesn't always sway...and I don't think it should. But that's kind of the question...are people voting with their hearts or heads...personally, I'm more of a head guy. -
Football and basketball are the "cool" sports...there's more emotion shown in those sports and kids love drama...not class. If you want to market to kids you have to change the perception and make baseball cooler. The product is great...that's not the problem. People do all kinds of stupid things just because it's the thing to do.

I don't think him dying changes when he gets voted in. It shouldn't. Inclusion into the HOF should be merit based, not, 'oh...you recently died...I'm gonna vote for you now cause it's good PR.' If he deserved 1st ballot 2 months ago then he should deserve it today.
