  1. I guess we can have this conversation next September. I expect them to be bad, but we'll see. The offseason might be interesting.
  2. Meh. It really would depend on who the replacement would be. Pretty sure he's not the only exec that knows anything. Now, whether they get a good replacement is another discussion, but let's not rule out that they're able to find someone worthy to step in, if it comes to that.
  3. It's almost like that's their job or something. Bob knows a lot of people in the industry...a lot. Who knows if someone said something to him in passing that's in the know. It's more likely that he was told something than you or I have a legitimate clue. My point is, I wouldn't be surprised at all if there's some sort of tension there. The team has been pure s*** the past 2 seasons...attendance is down...there's very little for Rogers to be happy about, so why is it so hard to believe that there would be concern and tension with the higher ups. Losing and lack of success creates animosity and frustration. It's very possible that there have been difficult discussions taking place...and I think the truth lies somewhere in that realm. Not that there's necessarily a rift, but that Rogers isn't happy...and Shapiro has heard about it from them. As he should. They're the boss...and he's the one that's going to be held accountable when things are at a low.
  4. You don't know whether it's true or not.
  5. The season isn't even over yet. I'm expecting that he'll say some s*** in the dead of winter when no one is thinking about baseball.
  6. My mistake. I thought I saw that Scherzer's WAR was higher.
  7. I'm the first but bust todd's chops about the whole Alford thing, but aside from saying 'not top 50 worthy', he's not wrong. Alford has done nothing to earn a promotion...he's been surpassed by many...and needs to prove himself again if he's going to get on a lot of people's radar again...and yes, the Jays system has gotten much deeper. 2019 is a critical season for Alford.
  8. Isn't deGrom only superior in ERA?
  9. Because he's stubborn
  10. But avoiding the Jays series, I'm sure, is welcome as well.
  11. You only lose your humor if you're a weak person. If you're a fun loving humorous guy then this is who you should be while raising your kids. Wokka Wokka
  12. I wonder if this will impact the return we get for him.
  13. Nash Knight played all 9 positions for Dunedin today.
  14. He'll provide a lame excuse as to why he wasn't around.
  15. Gaviglio might be in the mix to start too, but I'd rather see him replace Biagini as a long relief guy.
  16. Fine. Technically anything is possible. But I'm not anticipating anything exciting this off-season, and I'm not as bullish on a lot of our existing pieces as some of you are. But I guess we'll see. My benchmark is to see the makings of a championship team I guess. This is where I don't see the Jays anywhere close.
  17. Good lord. I can't believe any of you think there's any shot at a WC. OK. Let's reconvene about this time next season and see. If the Jays are a .500 team next season I'll be f***ing shocked.
  18. Atkins also said this... "We're at the point now where our position player talent is very, very strong, and it would be hard to really upgrade." He may very well believe that Merryweather will be impactful next season.
  19. I love all the anger. It's like my three kids bickering over nothing.
  20. Look 3 posts up
  21. Seeing as Atkins already said their position player depth can't get much better I'm guessing it'll be an arm.
  22. That may be true, but you still take the lottery ticket when you can get it. This is that risk conversation again. Is it worth taking the risk that he'll turn down the QO. Again, depending on what the criteria is for this PTBNL, we may end up getting a better piece than we could have in the 70-80 range anyway.
  23. Based on your name, you like to take risks too.
  24. Not necessarily good either. It's like the difference between playing to win and playing not to lose. You need a little risk in your life. I'm glad my wife will take some risk in the bedroom. I play to win.
