Fair points. Just feels like they seem to lean more towards College player vs. HS player, but your Groshans/Kloff examples are well taken. Maybe it's my own perception that's a tad skewed. I hope that Veen is available at 4 cause I'd love to see how it plays out.

I'd be really really surprised to see this FO go with a High Schooler at #5. I don't see a scenario where we take Veen based on how they've generally drafted. I don't see Veen fitting in with their risk tolerance. Just my opinion though. I believe it will be Gonzales, Hancock, or Meyer.

If this goes through, I will enjoy seeing people lose their minds as soon as a 17th-24th seed upsets a higher ranked seed as they "shouldn't have made it to the playoffs in the first place".

I thought you guys were science and facts guys...not voodoo and bad mojo. Other teams made bad selections at #5. That's all in the past. The Jays last 5th overall pick was Vernon Wells.

He'd make a great reliever...but I'm not 100% sold on him as a starter. At least not enough to take him at 5.

You can only say that if you already know what the Jays list is. If the Top 4 picks mirror the Jays ranking then they'll only be getting the 5th best player in their own eyes. They might view Veen as #1. Probably not, but we don't know that.

Have they confirmed a date for the draft yet? All I know is that it's been moved from June to July, but I haven't noticed any specific details.

No, but the plan is to eliminate minor league franchises so that will obviously impact the draft. Don't know by how much though.

Don't think they've been announced yet but speculation is that it'll be similar to last years numbers. Jays had $5,398,300 to spend last signing period. -

That's fair. But the thought of a 5th overall pick settling in as #4 starter just feels like a disappointment. I know maybe that's worst case, but I feel like it's far more likely than him becoming a #2. Just what my gut is telling.

Not much. The heavy sinker use isn't going to do anything for him. He's a physical specimen so he's got that going for him. Just needs a better repertoire. The toolbox is there...he just doesn't have the right tools in it.
