  1. It may have helped them, but I think the data from the era clearly suggests the advantage was skewed rather heavily on the side of the hitter.
  2. I'll see your "road home runs", and raise you "steroid era".
  3. I have no dog in this fight, but I find the drama quite captivating.
  4. There goes my dream of a perfect game clinch.
  5. No, unless something new develops in this game (like a pimped HR by the Jays), I don't think there will be issues.
  6. Mike Sirotka, Tanyon Sturtze, sinking ships, games on Rogers community cable...holy f*** it's been quite a road back to this point. I will enjoy this immensely.
  7. I hope it comes down to the ninth inning, up 1, bases loaded for the O's, 3-2 count, and have it end on a called strike a foot out of the zone. Just to have Showalter go nuts as we celebrate all around him.
  8. Throw Hutch in there somewhere, wasn't he an IFer? As much as I value first overall, I'd love to see the Jays C team drunk out of their minds in game two. It would be the cherry on top of a great season. Still probably beat the O's.
  9. RIP Michael Burgess.
  10. What would happen if we leave Baltimore with a game or two unplayed at this point? I assume nothing if they won't matter in the standings, but with KC, they might. Would they make us play on the tie-breaking day? That would suck massively.
  11. f*** Sale and his pitching in meaningless games to mediocre opponents. Price all the way.
  12. The D loss isn't as important if Estrada is pitching like he has. The bottom line is that perception is reality in the mind of a pitcher. If Estrada thinks it matters having Navarro in there, then it matters. Do whatever it takes to keep Estrada's smoke and mirrors working. Him not imploding is more important than a few extra innings for Martin.
  13. I would put Navarro in. I wouldn't mess around with a pitcher who skates on thin margins. It's 3 AB's. It's not the end of the world.
  14. Some handle it better than others, but the real alpha guys can be over-the-top obnoxious. I think JD is probably one of those guys.
  15. I just hope we clinch on the field, right in front of Showalter. Hopefully, the Yankees game ends first with them losing, although Yankees/Red Sox games are notoriously long. If Red Sox win, we'll need a rain delay, or to really beat the hell out of the O's with long top innings. I prefer the latter option.
  16. Yup. I get a sense that Josh would be a pain in the rear in a losing team's clubhouse.
  17. Angels don't concern me in the least.
  18. So if somebody offers you a player that you feel is worth $100 million through 2020, but has the same contract as Tulo, whereas you see Tulo as a player that, if you were to sign him to a contract, you would value him as no more than 70 million over the same period, how does Reyes money factor into the analysis? Would you make that deal, or not make that deal?
  19. So, if you think Tulo on the open market would be a $20 million player, combined, over the next two years ($10 mill per year) you are saying it's like him being a $32 million dollar player per year since you get the $10 million in value for two years plus the value of not paying Reyes $22 mill per year over that same term? Or am I misunderstanding your point?
  20. I can't figure out if that was intentional or if they really are that stupid. I have to believe it was intentional. It's too difficult to believe somebody can be that stupid.
  21. Have fun! Don't forget to burn the rat infested joint to the ground on your way out.
  22. Specifically mad at Lind for not scoring. The runners on base didn't matter given the score and inning, Lawrie is an idiot who doesn't understand what most baseball fans understand by the age of 10.
  23. Managers are almost completely irrelevant. A poor one might cost you a game or two, but most of them make interchangeable decisions that even out over the course of the year. I don't think he's a poor manager, he's average, which is fine. I hope Gibby wins, just for fun. I have little issue with his bullpen management as well as with his lineups and subs most times. We can all bitch about a decision here and there, it's the nature of the game, but all in all, he's fine.
  24. I managed to get to third base in senior kindergarten but, sadly, failed to have a threesome by the age of 12.
