  1. On replay looks like it hit the 5th metacarpal. It's as thin as a chicken bone, could easily be broken.
  2. Let him soak up as many innings as possible to prove his value. We want him pitching leverage in the playoffs
  3. Has there even been a whiff this inning? Ober is getting tattooed
  4. Optioning your most reliable reliever this season is certainly a move.
  5. Hopefully Counsell doesn't stiff him on playing time.
  6. Wake up babe, they're bringing in Nance.
  7. Schneider will absolutely fry the bullpen if we go to a 6 man rotation.
  8. He's obviously referring to Homer Bush
  9. Gonna go against the grain with a different viewpoint. Completely destroying a team is different from winning a 1 run game and tells you different things about a team's true talent level. Obviously not over a single game, but over a season yes. Over multiple seasons certainly. Consistently outperforming your underlying metrics at a team level isn't a reproducible skill from year to year. If anything, it should encourage us to push all-in, as it is unlikely we will have this type of good fortune in future years.
  10. Baby, wake up. Another Nance appearance
  11. Ignore the recent slump numbers. Lukes has been doing damage ever since the Baltimore series.
  12. France will stay. Loperfido doesn't have as extreme splits as Lukes. Gimenez coming back will relieve some need for backup infielders. All this together tells me that Schneider will be optioned, France takes more DH PAs, Springer plays more RF, especially against LHP. Mark my words.
  13. Agreed. Not a terrible gamble at the time of the signing, but we cut bait way too slowly. The last time Green was truly effective was 2021. After pitching a full season at replacement level last year, he should've been on thin ice as soon as the season started. Instead we let him rack up -1.0 WAR in high leverage innings up until the last week or two before he was released.
  14. Because of Varland's control, we have a good chance of winning this trade. If Varland is an elite reliever over the duration of his tenure and/or converts to an effective cost controlled SP (very unlikely I think), we win. If Varland gets huge outs down the stretch and throughout the playoffs it's almost a moot point on who 'won', we'll take it. If Rojas turns into an effective starter or Roden becomes a league average everyday player, they 'win'. The most likely outcome is that Rojas turns into a Varland level reliever in his pre-arb years and Roden becomes a decent bench player which is relatively even.
  15. Estevez is Berrios in closer form. Get to him
  16. Looking on the bright side, Nance is really making a case for himself in the bullpen
  17. Over several years of data the away team has a higher winning percentage. It's an open debate as to why that is happening.
  18. Not the best guy for extra innings because of his K rates. I like Sir Anthony and Fisher before going to Yariel.
  19. If you're a bench player with no versatility you need to absolutely mash to even justify your roster spot. Not sure what the plan with France is
