  1. AA loves Sanchez. I was at a Christmas party with him in 2011 and he told us Sanchez was his top prospect...over D'Arnaud, Hutch, Syndergaard, etc. despite coming off a very disappointing season (Sickels ranked Sanchez 10th best entering 2012). I'll be very interested to see if AA falls into the GM man-crush zone where they can't let go of what they thought he'd be (if he doesn't suceed initially).
  2. New to the board - DDL sounds like it's a keeper fantasy league. Any openings? I run a re-draft fantasy league of guys from the ESPN blue jays message board. We're going on our 8th or 9th year now. Would be interested if you have an opening.
  3. Anyone else surprised we haven't signed Gordon Beckham yet? Or was AA's rumoured man-crush on him just a smoke screen? He's cut from the same cloth at Justin Smoak.
  4. He's always hit much better (in relative terms) away from Safeco. He was a big time talent - I think it's worth a shot.....although I'd prefer if he was one of the only "gambles" we had to take. Good news is - 1st/DH has to be the easiest position to "fill"....if this is our "hole" - it's a great place to have one IMO.
  5. I find it humourous when Rotoworld says McGehee is coming off a terrific season....
  6. Yanks deal Prado and David Phelps for Nathan Eovaldi and Garrett Jones. at 25 years old - I really like Eovaldi.
  7. Padres continue to shake things up by getting Middlebrooks for Hanigan.
  8. What about when Shields was awful in the playoffs last year? You obviously seem to worry that everything could go wrong - doesn't that worry you too?
  9. I seem to remember videos of him and Cecil doing it together....so he must have been doing some of that training after coming to the Jays. I had thought it was the reason behind his success in 2013. Perhaps I was just fooled by the media and TV once again...
  10. Is this suggesting he wasn't on it last year?
  11. Sure did. Back in the days of Frank Thomas, Jason Bere and his "fosh", One Dog, Ventura, Black Jack, Wislon Alverez and Alex Fernandez...amazing. Over time, I just grew apart and for years have been a die hard jays fan.
  12. I met Rios and got his autograph at the big "meet the jays" day they do in spring training every year. He was a douche. I let my 4 year told practice in the front yard with the ball he signed He also plays with the Travis Snider ball I have (which I had in the mint case for years hoping he'd be a stud). Good times.
  13. Hey guys - I'm new to the board. Like what I see. I'm a left over from the old ESPN Blue Jays Message Board - former user name was "wsox_fan75". Any regulars here that used to post there before it got shut down?
  14. Rumours say it's 1 year, $2.5M + incentives. That's a steal IMO when you consider Brett Anderson got 1 year $10M + incentives. I was always a big Morrow fan. I'm sad to see him go.
  15. First year back from TJS. I don't mind the Grillioption, but I'm taking the risk on Motte over Joba and Cotts all day long. Guy was an AS stud pre TJS.
  16. Perhaps Steamers noticed his injury history...
  17. On a one year deal? Worth the risk IMO. Brett Anderson just got 1 yr $10M from the Dodgers. I figured the Jays woukd have been very appealing to Motte as an opportunity to close for a good team
  18. 1 yr $4.5m Exactly the type of deal I was hoping the jays could land him for. Disappointing.
  19. Keep in mind Dickey throws his knuckleball 10-15 mph harder than Wake did....time will tell how age affects his velocity. It's too simplistic to simply say see Wakefield...
  20. I'd love him back as a reliever. I think he'd dominate in the pen if he wanted to pitch there. Unfortunately he doesn't want to be in the pen and there are lots of teams who will give him a chance to be their 5th starter. I just can't see him returning.
  21. +1. I'll echo this view
  22. Huh? Ever think it was Melky didn't want to sign here?
  23. It's inconsistent, but you're absolutely right.
  24. Anyone think Tinnish might get a shot as a GM on another team anytime soon? Has anyone heard any rumours about there being interest in him? He's an impressive kid.
