    I think its better to acquire SP during FA and overpay rather than gut the farm. In the end it's not like you save a whole bunch on contracts anyways. In the Marlins trade we ended up taking on 2 bad contracts in Reyes and Buehrle to acquire JJ. Too risky clearing out all your prospects for one player as well.

    Not really, our offence is set for 2-3 years. We don't need to go all in this season. FA should be really exciting for the Bluejays.

    Does this trade mean we are all in? Idk seems like it was more of a trade for the next 4 years. Wouldn't count on another big trade before the deadline.

    I say we go after an allstar calibre left/center fielder instead of SP. It will be a hell of a lot cheaper and fill a BIG hole. Sanchez to the pen should strengthen it some. The starting rotation is not something we can fix this season IMO, even with the addition of a Price. Really don't see the point of relinquishing good SP prospects that could start as soon as next year. Also the price for SP is through the roof. Then in the offseason, with Buehrle and Dickey gone we can go out and sign a starter. Potential starters next season Stro FA pitcher Hutch One of (Sanchez, Norris, Hoffman) Estrada/Buehrle Looks like a solid group.

    Why do we still have guys like Carrerra and Goins in our lineup this year? Call up Pompey and end this already. Also why isn't Goins able to bunt? You'd think that is all they would make him work on since he sucks at hitting. Just auto bunt with him.

    It's ridiculous when you think about it. They traded Wil Myers and Jake Odorizzi for Shields, let Shields go to FA and now they are giving up prospects for 2 months of Cueto. Jays should learn from this, it's not worth it to go for it one year over the other. Great teams are built over years and in the offseason.

    It's not so much putting aside runs for another day, you look at stats to try and find the strengths and weaknesses in your game. The stats suggest that when the Bluejays score runs they score a ton and when they don't they get shutdown. Trying to add more runscoring tools to even out the highs and lows such as having speed at the bottom of the lineup, saving guys for the bench/pinch hitting etc makes sense. The byproduct of this new approach is you wont score 7+ runs as much because some of the time you will be relinquishing your potential for a big inning to score a few high prob. runs. So its not like you score 5 runs and then stop to save your run scoring power for another day.

    Yeah cuz we are that team. By scoring a lot of runs when we are already winning, those runs just serve to inflate our stats. It is true that we have a potent offense, but given our run differential we should be in 1st place.

    Only said it cuz he is usually one of the last guy's to catch on to stuff, not b/c what he says must be true.
