    I had figured we had 33m to play with before this (60m offseason). That would leave 17m. I’m honking we have even more to use than I thought as we front loaded this. There has to be at least around 20m to swing a deal for a big bat (bryant/Schwarber type). I think we’ll see a follow up move in the next 24-48 hours.

    It was more get a life, loser than get a life, nerd. I’ll agree with the better player part. He didn’t need to use PED. But he did , so he gets to keep the money, the fame, the memories but he doesn’t get the hall. I feel that is a fair tradeoff so I’m not gonna cry for him or rocket.

    I’d like to have seen how Delgado would have fared on this ballot had he found a way to traverse his way to get here. Hell, even if he had been able to hold out and retire one year later, it would have been beneficial to get past the ballot he faced on his first and only ballot. About same as Helton? Both Carlos and Helton on the same rumored 2003 failed test list. Along with Pedro and alomar.

    Even objective thinkers have to see the difference in careers of Ortiz and Delgado were not represented in the HOF voting. I have been calling papi coasting in for years so have already developed a deep bitterness about it. I thought maybe they’d even be considered equal given Ortiz being a dh while Carlos played the field. Carlos voting class had 4 1st ballot hall of famers and 8 others that eventually got in. Makes my top 10 as I wouldn’t have thrown Lee smith a vote. If 9 of the 50 people who voted for the ghost of don mattingly gave those votes to Carlos, he stays above the 5pct line
