  1. I wouldn't throw him a fastball in the zone the entire series.
  2. No kidding, will he ready for Tuesday you think?
  3. Yeah, this is how I feel. If the Jays don't win 3/4 we shouldn't even have this conversation.
  4. I was reading about Votto's suspension, and thinking maybe the Reds might be interested in parting with him. He's expensive, controversial, and the Reds manage their roster like a small market team and may think it's time to get rid of him. Wouldn't he be sweet in a Jays uni? I think he's a tremendous talent. Could you imagine our infield with that guy there?
  5. I agree 100% I don't care if it's just sheer bad luck, Hutch sucks on the road. I'd rather see Stroman pitch and see what he does. Hutch is 7 ER by the 3 inning. Stroman will do no worse than that, and perhaps wayyyy better.
  6. Maybe, but that's what it shows right now.
  7. After yesterday's win, MLB.COM has our playoff probability at 100%.
  8. I was thinking about this the other day. Say we end up in a WC matchup, we have to use Price. If we win, I think our next starter should be Dickey for that series, for the Dickey effect.
  9. It's so true, at least in Saskatoon and Edmonton, where I work. A ton of people are wearing Jays gear. It's pretty cool. We should reward a successful team. We are not Tampa Bay.
  10. If the Yankees would just f*** off, we could look forward to the division series. but man they are beating up on Boston again. They will not go away. I am hopeful for a WC spot.
  11. Geez, I take Estrada over Stroman. Stroman hasn't pitched in the majors in almost a year. I wouldn't put eggs in that basket just yet. If we face off in the WC with Price, and win, then I'd like to see Dickey pitch game 1 of the next series for the Dickey effect.
  12. Good analysis. So, come post-season (if we make it) you'd like him out of the rotation, since he's been riding lady luck the last 10 starts, correct?
  13. Estrada continues to make quality starts. Do we let him go? Offer him a QO? Offer him a 3-year, $30M deal?
  14. I was a huge Green fan, too. One of the more underrated players to ever don a Jays uni.
  15. How long have you been a Jays fan? Are you a newbie getting a exciting taste of meaningful September ball for the first time, or a jaded, old veteran who has seen many highs and more lows over the years? I suspect many of you weren't around or interested in ball when the Jays had their halcyon years, from 1985-1994 when they were more solid than not, but I thought this would be a neat way to determine the fan demographics of our board. For me, I'm a grizzled, old fan. I started really loving the Jays in 1984 (I was in grade 7) when they had such an exciting, young team...led by my favourites Moseby, Barfield and Bell. I am still a huge fan of those guys. Anyway, enough about me...
  16. The Jays now have a 99% chance of making the postseason, and 73% chance of winning the AL East. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/probability.jsp Seems high, but I will take it.
  17. Which, with our much improved bullpen, should be significantly reduced. I like our chances for post-season play.
  18. I like his get out, get out, gone! on Jays dingers.
  19. I have MLB TV and I disagree with you. I dislike a lot of the other guys. Now mind you I've mostly only watched/listened to AL games (I don't give a s*** about the NL, unless the Dodgers are playing, they are cool to watch), but I think Buck is a lot better than some of those guys. But I'm a newbie. I've only followed the Blue Jays since 1984 so I might not know what I am talking about.
  20. I like Siddall a lot. I agree with you there.
  21. There is a poll, I was just in the middle of things when you replied.
  22. Over the last couple of years I've read a lot of Martinez hate on this forum, hate that I've never understood. I loved him as a player (I'm old) and I liked him as a manager (don't judge) and I love him on the broadcasts. I think he adds a lot. Is he a Vin Scully? No. But no one is. I love that fact that he's a homer and gets genuinely excited with the Jays when they are trouncing a team, but his exuberance for the home team is balanced with what I feel is good insight a lot of the time. Anyway listen to this interview, I love his insight here, too. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/martinez-tulo-fits-like-a-glove-his-bat-will-come-around/ So, to the poll. Do you hate Buck, or like him, or meh. I want to know. Is this a needless thread? Maybe. I don't have a life.
  23. Holy s*** that's a nice swing...photo edited or real?
  24. I was thinking about stolen bases during this convo and looked up Ricky Henderson's WAR over his career, holy s*** the guy was awesome... http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=194&position=OF
  25. Pillar may not have the base running instincts of a Revere, or even EE, but he is quick.
