  1. You must be very young not to have heard of those players. Larry Walker is about my favorite player of all time, being a Canadian and former Expo.
  2. Vancouver didn't succeed with an NBA team so I am not sure if it would with a MLB team. Montreal is a good baseball city. One of the biggest problems is getting a new baseball stadium built. The Big O just isn't a pleasant place to watch baseball.
  3. It is enjoyable to see the regulars hammering the ball again. I wouldn't want to see the Blue Jays going into the playoffs on a losing streak.
  4. This is my last post for a while. Your posts seem quite reasonable and informative and you don't go out of your way to insult people so I respectfully pointed out that such a warning from a moderator is probably out of respect for people with disabilities and not due to being "crazy".
  5. Of course it was. I know parents who adopted and raised a child with fetal alcohol syndrome and it isn't a joking matter. It is often a severe disability.
  6. I completely agree with what you posted, especially considering the poor playing conditions in Baltimore. However, my attitude will change if Gibbons uses the same tactics in Tampa and doesn't even use pinch hitters to try and win games. Playing as if a team doesn't care whether they win or lose is disrespectful of the fans who watch the games and therefore pay for mega-million dollar contracts of players and Gibbons (I am not sure how much Gibbons makes). I can understand Gibbons attitude but it is a bit annoying also. If the Blue Jays play with their B team in Tampa and doesn't even use pinch hitters then that will make the weekend series unenjoyable for the fans. Gibbons, you have to also respect the bozos out there in fantasy land since they are the ones who pay for your contract instead of you coaching some amateur team and having to go to work 5 days a week. Don't condone drunkenness - in the real working world such behavior often results in workers being terminated. It is also a very poor example for the very young fans of the team. Just imagine a 10 year old you thinks that a team plays 100% every game who now realizes that they don't.
  7. I actually like it. It seems to minimize home field advantage but doesn't actually give it to the lower seed team.
  8. Good one, let's see what other insults will follow.
  9. Personally, it bothers me when people make comments about celebrities as if they aren't really people. So in other words, if someone said online that you Stangstag look like you have fetal alcohol syndrome would it bother you? I think if people disagree with celebrities then it is ok to state ones point but without the derogatory remarks as if celebrities are objects and not real people. In other words, act like a diplomat instead of like Donald Trump.
  10. Interesting. I am not sure about the percentages, but you have pointed out that the ALCS is 2 at home, 3 away, and 2 at home instead of 2-2-1-1-1 as it is in the NHL playoffs. So in the ALCS, 3 of the first 5 games are at the home of the lower seed team - http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/schedule/index.jsp#date=10/14/2015 instead of 3 of the first 5 games at the home of the higher seed team as in the NHL playoffs. It has been so many years since I watched MLB playoffs that I wasn't sure.
  11. lol (seriously)
  12. Something has clicked with Goins and I think some credit should be given to Brook Jacoby. Goins got down on one knee on Monday night to bunt runners on 1st and 2nd to 2nd and 3rd. Last night he got a bunt hit to the left side of the infield against a shift. He also hit a ball that was shoulder high that he has missed many times in the past 3 years. Goins has good hand-eye coordination based on his fielding abilities; it just seems to have taken longer to apply that ability to offense (I think a lot of it has to do with having many plate appearances this year and increased confidence). Another thing that I found interesting was a picture of Goins watching Tulowitzki taking batting practice a day or two ago; it also seems that Goins has probably learned by watching the good hitters on the team. When all is taken into account, Pillar and Goins have improved immensely and Brook Jacoby deserves a lot of credit.
  13. Wow, that must have taken some effort to dig those quotes up. However, only one of those referred to winning the overall best record. So the answer was twice, not once (and even then, one quote referred to winning the AL East which the Blue Jays were celebrating yesterday). So on the truth meter, you are in a real grey zone. I think you are going to an extreme effort to defend drunkenness; time to sober up Spanky99 and consider AA (not Alex Anthopoulos, the other one).
  14. This is the first time I have said this. So the answer is once.
  15. I think the wild party with a few games remaining is a mistake. There is too much risk of someone getting injured while drunk, that among other reasons such as losing games. Although having mostly AAA players in game 3 of 4 after clinching wasn't so bad, Gibbons said he is planning to use the same group in game 4 today. Time for the Blue Jays to get back to winning games instead of making it seem like it is unimportant. Winning best record overall is important in getting to the World Series, which should be the goal.
  16. Good one, very funny. Toronto must be the safest city in the world if someone can hang out downtown and try to buy beer off strangers at 4 am in the morning. I wonder if the Cardinals will get past the first round of the playoffs?
  17. Unfortunately, it seems to be true. Even when he seems to have good stuff, he somehow gets into a mess.
  18. You are absolutely right. Toronto is a safe city.
  19. Yeah, how about that Goins kid
  20. The Red Sox team is very good right now. I am glad they are playing the Yankees.
  21. My guess is that the game will start late around 9 - 10 pm and the weather will be not too bad after that. This is based on the radar animation - http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/baltimore-md/21202/weather-radar/348707
  22. Both lineups are given here - http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2015_09_29_tormlb_balmlb_1#game=2015_09_29_tormlb_balmlb_1,game_state=Pregame weather in Baltimore - http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/baltimore-md/21202/hourly-weather-forecast/348707 (looking at the radar, it looks like the worst of it might be gone by 9 pm - http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/baltimore-md/21202/weather-radar/348707). My guess is that the game will be played but there will be a rain delay to start.
  23. This has no connection to anything I posted. I indicated that Dalton Pompey is a fan favorite of some because he is Canadian not because of his stats in the MLB. There are people on this forum who want to replace Revere with Pompey immediately, others want to trade Pillar to free up CF for Pompey after the season. One poster made an analogy between Devon Travis and Pompey as if Pompey had equivalent stats to Devon Travis. I have to wonder what some people have against Pillar, who has a WAR of 3.7 - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=12434&position=OF Part of the reason that the Blue Jays are now in first place in the AL East is because Pillar was able to step in for Pompey and play at a very high level. I am sure Pompey will get regular playing time in the MLB in the future but the Blue Jays are trying to win the AL East and then win in the playoffs. Now isn't the time to replace regulars with a rookie Pompey who hasn't proven that he is ready for the MLB.
  24. You are just trolling now. You can't be this stupid.
  25. The Angel are an intimidating team now that they are getting hot, and considering the players they have such as Trout and Pujols. I hope the Blue Jays won't meet them in the first round.
