Best to get used to this lineup. Fans who liked watching expansion team-like baseball will enjoy it. I remember being very young and following the Expos in the early 1970's.
I bet no one else remembers Ron Hunt. He led the NL in being hit by the pitcher one season (or maybe more). This game brings back memories of hoping for a big Expos comeback.
I partially blame Gibbons. He saw how angry Bautista was and could have replaced him with a pinch runner to try for the win. But we know from last year that Gibbons doesn't mind throwing games away.
Now is the time for a manager change. Everyone including the fans are down. If they do it now it might turn things around.
Who will be in the lineup tomorrow after the suspensions. Carrera in CF, Burns at 3rd ... It won't be fun. Except maybe Pompey will get called up since probably both Bautista and Pillar in the outfield will be out.
Bautista doesn't have his usual swagger.
That was a dirty slide. If Bautista had of gotten Odor's leg then Odor could have been injured. Bautista wasn't justified in a late slide past the bag. Odor had a reason to be angry and if Bautista had of gotten up and walked away then Odor wouldn't have had a chance to swing at him.
Did this really all happen because of Bautista's bat flip last year. Surely, the actual home run that caused them the game was more annoying (and the 3 errors in the infield).
Bautista had no reason to take his anger out on Odor. I can understand Odor for protecting himself.
I think Bautista needs some anger management. I think Bautista would be a man to accept that he got what he deserved.
I don't think their heads were in the right place. They made the game secondary, but some players have done that all year.
Encarnacion and Bautista have taken their contract disputes onto the field.
In short, as a team the Blue Jays have sucked big time.
Just another disappointing loss. When Bautista was hit by the pitch the Blue Jays should have been focused on getting him home.
This was just a throw away game. I think this will be a long disappointing season.
I don't think this was a heartbreaker; they didn't lose it in extra endings due to lost chances to score, and by giving up runs because of walks, hit batters and errors, like they did in San Francisco. So last night's loss was much easier to accept.
The Blue Jays will need to get hot soon. The Orioles are hot and might run away with the division.
Encarnacion will have to stop being selfish and start playing like winning matters.
