  1. Ross Stripling is pretty legit for a buy low candidate with club control. I think it’ll take less work to “fix” his issues (mostly attributed to pitch mix and sequencing) compared to Robbie Ray, which has fundamental mechanical issues.
  2. Alberto was a guy we kept our eye on as a sleeper prospect. His rookie-ball numbers were solid and gained some traction in the top 30 lists. He was basically found money, like Kirk and Moreno. Potential 5-tool outfielder with decent offensive upside. Seattle will be a good landing spot for him. I’m okay with giving up Alberto. I hope the Jays will successfully re-sign Taijuan.
  3. Musgrove is definitely more expensive, hence why the deal fell through on the eleventh hour. Stripling was also on the trade block for longer and the emergence of Gonsolin made him more expendable. As we all come to know, the Dodgers are stacked. This is correct. There’s also no need for fans to throw shade at Kendall now that he’s traded. It was a good deal for both sides. If he ever becomes a mid-rotation starter for the Dodgers, that’s terrific. The Jays weren’t willing to wait 4 years to find out. They want to win now, not in 2025. The Dodgers have targeted Kendall Williams since the 2019 draft, just like the Jays targeted Simeon Woods-Richardson in the 2018 draft. The farm is still intact and we have other pitching prospects.
  4. I like Ross Stripling. One prospect had to be included to get the deal done. Of the real prospects they could trade away, Kendall is the guy I’m most comfortable parting with. The Dodgers could very well turn him into a stud and fans will cry about it, but at some point the team needs to trade pieces away to win. At least if Kendall becomes a stud, he won’t be pitching against us. He’s way too far away to tell. When Stripling is good, he’s a significant upgrade over Anderson and Roark, while also under control for 2 more years after this season. He was good 2018-2019, four mediocre starts shouldn’t override a two year sample with 1.8 fWAR in 90.1 IP in 2019. The Blue Jays have added Ross Stripling, Robbie Ray, Taijuan Walker, Jonathan Villar, and Daniel Vogelbach in a week. Those are some serious upgrades and pretty much the entire farm system is still intact. That’s a pretty good job.
  5. Alejandro Kirk 2018 (Rk) - 160 wRC+ 2019 (A) - 173 wRC+ 2019 (A+) - 153 wRC+ Reese McGuire (MLB) 2020 15 games: .088/.088/.176, OPS .264 and -43 wRC+
  6. I’ll take 3/4. Bring on the Marlins & Red Sox
  7. Knowing how Ross likes to trade away all my favorite sleepers, Otto Lopez is 99% gone.
  8. Ross Stripling is Buck approved Vetrin Presence
  9. Drury —> Vogelbach Thornton —> Walker Espinal (or Panik) —> Villar Reid-Foley —> Ray Waguespack —> Stripling
  10. Possible. One of Hiraldo, Pardinho, Kloff, Kendall will likely need to be involved to get this deal done. There’s too much control left on Stripling’s contract. I’d be surprised if it was two complete scrubs.
  11. He threw a strike to the catcher from right field, no bounce?
