  1. Better 2nd inning from Nate, but he had to dial it way down on the FB velo to throw strikes. 93 MPH on that FB on that flyout, but a good GDP. Nice bounceback.
  2. Nice hit by Teoscar up the middle, here comes Fisher. Edit: And Fisher GDP
  3. 2-out inning ends on pitch count for Nate, ouch.
  4. Good movement and location on that 87 mph slider to Vazquez. edit: 86mph slider up & away K on Vazquez
  5. Way too much plate vs Bogaerts. edit: ouch center-cut to Moreland.
  6. FB control is rusty, lowered the gas to 94-96 just to touch the strike zone.
  7. Audio back for Nate Pearson thank god. Edit: 95mph 1st pitch, send him down for a week! 2nd Edit: 98 mph & 97 mph second and third pitch. Carry on.
  8. Shaw taking some good pitches, they're putting a pretty heavy shift on him I think. Edit: and he walks
  9. Bichette obligatory hack on the 1st swing and we're underway. Where's the audio?
  10. Taxi Squad update: As speculated, one catcher + 2 pitchers to start the season is the plan.
  11. 10 minutes to game time, grabbing beverages for the Nate Pearson show.
  12. This argument makes some sense. But I think Bichette really likes being the lead-off hitter and stays motivated doing it. Gurriel is absent from the batting order, that's not good. I'm a bit on the fence with Shaw as our cleanup hitter.
  13. I think they're sneaking Jansen in the bottom of the order as a "second lead-off/OBP" guy putting him 9th. He has one of the faster sprint speed for catchers in the MLB last season with 27.3 ft/s and 4.46s home to 1st. Jansen was even faster in 2018 and apparently his conditioning has improved. It's not quite at the tier of JT Realmuto with 28.7 ft/s and 4.22 home to 1st, but speed is still an asset for him. Willson Contreras was 27.7 ft/s and 4.37s HP to 1st, which is closer to Jansen's 2018 statcast numbers. Bo Bichette is 28.4 ft/s and 4.20s HP to 1st. Cavan Biggio is 28.3 ft/s and 4.35s HP to 1st.
  14. Lineups cards updated. Red Sox have no pitching but they still have some thump in their batting order, it will be a good test for Big Nate. I think so, it's not an intrasquad game.
  15. I think Drury with consistent playing time can flash good leather at 3B and adequate power until Groshans/Martin/Orelvis Martinez is ready. Espinal only played 1 game at third base last season and has never hit for anything close to average power, even with the triple-A juiced balls. 2018: .109 ISO (AA) 2019: .104 ISO (AA), .115 ISO (AAA) Average is @ .140 ISO or @ 21 home runs in 2019. Even when Drury had a below average replacement level season, he had .163 ISO and 15 HR in 120 games for 2019. He’s already on the 60-pool and 40-man, and most likely ahead of Tejada, Burns, Espinal and Smith in the depth chart.
