  1. It's been said enough times but blaming Gibbons is just not right here. Most managers would have ran the 8th inning the exact same as Gibbons, he can't control the outcome after doing the right calls. Also, stop kidding yourself - Castro just about lost the hold with his first pitch to Arod, a fast ball down the pipe that thankfully the wind kept it in the park.
  2. It's baseball guys. In regular playing conditions the first pitch by Castro would be a 2 run homer to Arod.
  3. Yeah, I mean he gets the outs but his walkrate is by far his weak spot. Having a clean inning is suppose to work to his benefit though but he just didn't have it.
  4. and what kind of trust are you building in Loup who is a tailor made to pitch an 8th inning with 3 lefties in a row? He just stunk ass. The Gibbons hate on here is a bit much, he gave him the 3 lefties and pulled him for Cecil who pitched better than the result showed. Loup costed them this game, not Gibbons, nor Cecil.
  5. I don't disagree, but Loup's career #s vs lefties is very good, probably best on the team. With 3 coming up in a row in the 8th, he was totally a valid choice by Gibbons. He can't predict when they are going to suck a bag of dicks on a given night.
  6. What game are you watching? Cecil K'd his first batter, IBB the second, HBP 3rd, had inning ending grounder f***ery.
  7. C'mon Cecil has bailed out this team many times over the past couple years. More so than any other arm. He was penciled in as the closer, rushed about 5 warm up pitches in the pen before running to the mound with runners on and none out. This was not how he pictured his first game to be this season.
  8. By next week Osuna is 8th inning man and Castro is closer and the baseball world writes stories about them.
  9. Martin is looking terrible. He's bobbled 3 or 4 this inning.
  10. Finally... Finally the Jays bring in their 'closer' in a dire 8th inning situation. They never did this once with Janssen, times are changing.

  12. I liked seeing him really emphasize where he wants the ball at times, like reminding him we want this ball right down there using his fist to communicate.
  13. I felt more comfortable with Happ on the mound knowing we'll need to score 4+ runs and his damage was usually spread out getting pulled when his pitch count got high. Whereas Dickey either cruises through 7 strong or 50/50 implodes in the 5th/6th with a barrage of walks & homers.
  14. This If we're still in it late in the season and our 5th spot is a disaster mix of Sanchez,/Estrada/Henriks/Redmond, you can bet your house Gibbons would want to patch up that hole with Stroman. Otherwise, I don't expect Stroman to be back at all, perhaps with some BP opportunities but only if he's 100% good to go.
