    Watched the game on PVR. First that umped really sucked and had about the quickest hook ever against the As. Stro got hit hard on those home runs, he left pitches over the plate on a tee for them. Seemed like Carerra could have caught that fly/liner that landed in front of him to start the inning. Cecil back to s***. Chavez was pretty studly.

    Played RBI baseball 3 on Sega and we beat Oakland 5-4 in 13 innings. I struck out 22 times and all 10 of my hits were doubles. lol http://i.imgur.com/u4wDfJh.jpg

    I really hope in a few years Espinoza turns into Syndergard and Pomeranz becomes a 5th string starter. I'll just feel better.

    Padres basically turned Yonder Alonso and Marc Rzepczynski in to Espinoza. Wow.

    Yes, Toronto has always been a great city but most American ball players come from the west coast or southern states, they know little about Canada and to them it obviously sounds worse than it is. I remember Adam Lind once talking how it's just a pain in the ass playing in and out of a different country every few days. Custom's alone is a pain, Canadian/American money, taxes, etc. Want to fly in some family, make sure they have passports. Also regarding free agents from early 90s, we were already a good team for the past 10 years and turf wasn't a deterrent, it had been in a dozen stadiums by that point but that trend ended quickly and no one wanted to play on the surface. I think once we have natural grass it will attract more to be honest.

    Remember when Jays deferred money to get their boy Santana here with a top dollar bid? He still wouldn't come here. edit: Sorry not deferred. I don't know the term, players paying for his salary from their own pockets.

    I think it's more about playing for Team Canada then signing with a .500 team.

    How many free agents have their arms raised to sign in Toronto though? The list is short, you can't assume we'll just lock up Reddick or Moss instread. Hell, there's only been a handful of big name FA that have signed here over the past 20 years. Since Roger Clemens days, we've seen Melky, Martin, a 40yr old Frank Thomas, and BJ Ryan from the top of my head. If we can lock up EE and or Bautista with shorter term deals I'd do it.

    Yeah well he had a wRC+ of 8 going in to that game. Decisive or not, he only has 11 hits all season.

    Navarro was a positive asset for us last year, they aren't all Thole's level???? Martin is aging, there's a good chance he'll have DL stints in the future and having flexibility outside of him would be ideal. I'd have a different opinion if Dickey wasn't a 1.4 war pitcher...

    Except Thole probably wouldn't be on any MLB roster if it weren't for Dickey... Martin isn't a young buck, he's been playing through some injuries here and there thus far and it's inevitable that it will happen during his contract. Why use the league's worst hitter as his back up?

    I just know at some point in the future Russell Martin will hit the DL and we will be stuck with Josh Thole for weeks catching Estrada, Sanchez, Stroman... we're catering to our 40yr old #3/#4 because he goes on hot streaks in the summer that just wash out his bad starts from April/May.. making him average. I'd like to end that.
