  1. See Cuddyer, Michael...crazier things have happened.
  2. That's probably correct, but if someone is dumb enough to sign Michael Cuddyer to a two year deal and lose a draft pick, then perhaps someone is desperate enough for pitching to give up the pick for Estrada? Plus I think he could get a 3 year deal in the $30m range if he continues to perform as well as he has. (Not saying he is worth it, but there is a lot of money in baseball these days...)
  3. If Estrada continues to pitch as well as he has, would you offer him a QA? It would be a big raise (about 10M), but I think it could be a good gamble; either he signs and you maybe have an overpay, but it's just for one year, or he declines and tries to find a long term deal, and you end up with a high draft pick to help restock the system. I wouldn't mind seeing him back next year, as he's done a good job, but I wonder what he would get on the open market, and if he would be worth it? He seems to be a good candidate for a bad long term contract (ie. Bourne/Swisher, or any number of Twins signings the last couple of years).
  4. Was checking out the nyfans.com forum for the Yankees, and there's a lot of talk about how they hope they hold onto the WC, let alone the division. Now there is a lot of baseball to be played, and Jays fans should know to be cautious, but man does it feel good to be in this position! Yankee fans were not at all happy about this series (nor should they be), and a lot of them don't think too highly of their team.
  5. We already have lots of quality players...we need David Price. Open the vault Rogers!
  6. While I never liked the trade, I've never held it against RA. He's been solid, if unspectacular (unfortunately we gave up spectacular to get him...) and his contract is more than affordable. I see no reason not to pick up his option, I can't imagine that it would affect re-signing Price. The only way Price comes back is if ownership decides to break the bank to get him, and RA's option won't be a factor in that.
  7. I don't know if he was worth giving up Graveman and Lawrie though...
  8. I remember at the beginning of the season all the experts said the AL Central was the best division in the league, and that the AL East was not very good. Now the Central has one good team while the East has 3, maybe 4.
  9. I'm sure some are, but really, this is just a great team now. AA always said his goal was to have multiple all stars, and he's done that now. He's also been smart in picking up guys who would benefit from Rogers Centre (JD, TT). Donaldson especially has hit incredibly well at home, as was to be expected from his stats playing here before.
  10. I guess Mark Buehrle would be example #1. He induces lots of contact, but it's not good contact.
  11. Thanks for sharing! I can't say how much I love seeing David Price in a Jays uniform...so awesome!
  12. Awesome article, I wonder who the fall back pitcher was that he had as a backup plan?
  13. Yep, while I didn't mind Reyes (some of the flak he took from the board was a bit much), his defence was in serious decline and you always wondered when the next error would happen. I don't have those worries with the infield now.
  14. The last time I felt like this was 1993. It's like when the signed Molitor and you had the stacked WAMCO lineup. It so awesome to see so many good players in a Blue Jays uni.
  15. I don't think the contract for Price would cripple us. I'd actually front load it a bit to offset the upcoming raises for Martin/Donaldson/Stroman, etc. If you figure he lands a Scherzer contract (7/210), I'd probably go 35/35/35/30/30/25/20, that way you get some protection for aging/decline, plus give you room in the budget for raises for the young guys you hope will turn into stars.
  16. Don't like Shark, would rather go all in for Price, or Cueto. Hopefully we get a president who allows contracts greater than 5 years. Such a stupid policy. Price/Stro/Dickey/Hutch/Estrada would be pretty solid. I'd love to see Beurhle back, he has been a dependable anchor for the 3 years he's been here. Maybe trade Hutch for some depth if they can re-sign Price and Beurhle.
  17. It's all about the major league team, and that team is a whole lot better today than earlier this week. Only one significant player (Price) that they acquired over the past year is a free agent, so even though they gave up prospect capital, they have received elite performers that are controllable for numerous years. Even if you factor in regression over the next 5 years, they should still be solid above average players, so I don't think the future is bleak.
  18. Strongly approve. Love the Tulo deal, Price deal was good (although losing Norris hurts), would be even better if Rogers ponies up and he re-signs. While the prospect cupboard is a lot emptier, there are still some solid young players in the pipeline.
  19. At this point I'd throw in anyone they want except Stro...Hutch, Sanchez, Pompey, Alford, who cares!
  20. So, Pomey, Alford, SRF + for Carrasco? I didn't want to give up Alford before, but frak it, just get it done AA!
  21. I like it; don't like losing Norris but he's still only a prospect, and the Jays have a good history of developing them under AA, so I'm sure he can reload in the draft.
  22. Well I like Norris a lot and would be sad to see him go, but I love that the Jays are going for it. AA certainly knows how to draft, so even though the farm system has been heavily depleted, there are still some good players in the pipeline, and I'm sure (assuming AA gets an extension) that there will be more. At least we can't complain that they haven't done anything at the deadline this year!
  23. Even if Tulo starts to decline, I think the one thing we all can agree on is that AA has the ability to dump that contract 3 years from now. Our infield is pretty sick right now. Who would of thought even 9 months ago that we would have 2 MVP calibre players on the left side?!
  24. I'd say 3 and 60 for Bautista. His bat is so good, and he doesn't need to hit for a high average to still be elite due to his walk rate. I'd let EE walk and use the resources for pitching. As others have stated, a core of Bautista, Tulo (can't believe I'm writing that!), Martin, Donaldson is pretty good, even as they age.
