  1. Yeah you never really know. It's Driveline Baseball and he only has 5 MLB guys who have worked with him so I'm not sure hoe credible he is. His website looks like it also advocated weighted balls so I am really confused as I was sure I read an article how he didn't like it. He's a big video and saber guy so you never really know. Pitching is so unpredictable that you never really know who is right.
  2. There was a guy from Seattle who owns a baseball training program and consults for a couple MLB teams as well as Oregon State who has said the weighted ball program is not the best thing for pitchers. I think it had something to do with players screwing with their mechanics. Interesting becasue a lot of the guys who went on it have declined and had trouble with command this season.. Delabar, Cecil, Santos...
  3. Thats not getting him anywhere. What was his velo when he was drafted? IIRC we took him with a pick in the first few rounds back when there was no bonus limits. Edit: lol my question got answered as I was typing this out.
  4. Wow quite the matchup in Dunedin. Weaver vs Osuna and Lawrie is playing as well. Sad part is probably 500 people show up with 50 being scouts. Re: Pompey said on Twitter he was starting tonight so maybe its the 2nd game as there is a DH.
  5. Honestly if everyone is healthy in mid August they should just tell Francisco/Tolleson or Kawasaki to fake a hamstring injury. Go on the DL for 15 games and then you come back up in September. It is good for the org. (keep the player without waivers) and the player as they get to keep making the MLB salary. There is a part of me that thinks this scenario happened with Dan Johnson. Late in the game on his last AB he comes up limping and just happens to "pull a hammy"
  6. I think he's a reliever long term as well. But his value right now and if he keeps it up (the offseason) his value is going to be a lot higher than a very good reliever. Right now he still doesn't have very good fastball command but since he has such good velocity and movement he can pretty much just aim for the middle and throw strikes. Once he is a starter his stuff is a lot more hittable and he will have to locate much better.
  7. Pillar over Rasmus and Reimold would just be terrible roster management and if you thought today was a bad message to the clubhouse that lineup construction would have players even more upset.
  8. But now Bautista is your back up CF which is pretty scary and since Rasmus can't hit LHP you are at a disadvantage late in the game.
  9. Good news is that Pompey is going to be back in the lineup tomorrow.
  10. Well the option is you go down to a 6 man pen or you keep Tolleson over Valencia but I really doubt that happens considering they just traded for him. Other option is you keep Goins/Kawasaki instead of Francisco which could be an option if Francisco stops hitting RHs. No matter what they do they will not have a backup at an up the middle position with a 4 man bench and keeping Francisco. (Gose, Goins/Kawasaki) The Big If is that everyone is healthy and I am not sure you see this team 100% healthy position player wise for the rest of the season.
  11. You would rather have Pillar in the lineup than Rasmus? Id like to have whatever you are smoking lol.
  12. That was my thought as well. They saw Lawrie is taking grounders at 3rd but it seems like he is going to be playing 2nd based on the roster construction. Only way I see Lawrie at 3rd is if they keep Goins or Kawasaki at 2nd instead of Francisco at 3rd vs RHP. I think Francisco stays but it probably is a battle between all of them until Lawrie and Lind come back.
  13. I think his stuff plays much better in the pen and thats why he has been succeeding so well. His FB is 96-97 not 94-95 which makes it a lot harder to square up. We still have barely seen his changeup. And for how great the stuff is we haven't really seen many swing and misses, kinda like Henderon Alvarez although it is a SSS. I am encouraged by the results no doubt but to think he will be a very good starter is a pretty big stretch.
  14. You still need Thole. I agree about the 6man pen. You have Goins for September and use him as a defensive replacement.
  15. Gose, Reimold, Valencia, Thole. Francisco starts at 3rd base and Lawrie at 2nd.
  16. Willy Myers looks like a pretty good outfielder. He is just hurt right now.
  17. Hip injury or not he can't hit lefties. Edit: actually looked up the numbers and he is better than avg. Really suprised as I swear he strikes out literally every single time I watch him vs LHP.
  18. Wow Ump with a horseshit call
  19. Hamilton is useless against LHP
  20. Good news is that both these teams we are chasing and they are killing their pens for their next series.
  21. Took him out for Tollesson because there was a LHP. Right move at the time as there was a guy at 2nd and 2 out.
  22. Yes! Good game guys. And now no one remebers the trade deadline lol.
