  1. Yeah but anything can happen, crazier things have happened.. I mean we are only 10 games into this season so I wouldn't even look at the standings right now.
  2. Well Marcus Stroman is a candidate for a potential front end starter. I don't think anyone is saying Dickey is going to be a game 7 starter. There is nothing wrong with acquiring an ace type starter but I do have a problem with it if you don't address the OF and 2B. I feel more comfortable going in with this staff and upgrades at 2B and the OF than I do getting Shields and going into the season relying on Pompey in CF and Travis at 2B.
  3. I already said that even if you have a "ace" there is no guarantee that makes you get to the World Series. For every Bumgarner there was a Kershaw or a Shields that have that reputation as an ace yet it didn't help their teams in the post season. Even Lester didn't make the A's go to the WS. I would much rather invest money into LF or 2b that gives the Blue Jays a better chance of winning the division than blowing all their money on a frontline SP. The upgrade this team could make by getting a decent 2B or LF/CF is better than by getting a Lester over a Dickey. Furthermore I don't want to give an over 30 pitcher over 5 years and 130 million when you already have a good rotation.
  4. Yeah but if you look at how much smarter front offices have gotten in the last 7 years then you would think in 7 years time even the big spenders will know that he will be well into the decline stage of his career and there is no point in paying him over 200 million for what he once was. Pujols and Cabrera will be hard lessons as to why not to pay big money for players in the decline stage of their careers.
  5. That was my argument at the time. Thole's value is tied to Dickey. He has no value to any other team in the Majors so if you decline the option you can tell him to take what we give you or go sign a minor league contract somewhere else.
  6. Lol at the Marlins. http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/634053 Edit: not really sure why Stanton would ever opt out of this. Have a hard time he would get more than 218 million at that age.
  7. Well getting to the playoffs matters a lot because this franchise hasn't done it in 20 years. Having an "ace" doesn't guarantee you anything in the playoffs either. We saw Kershaw and Shields suck in the postseason even though they are great pitchers. KC made it to the WS without an ace pitcher. If anything, we can draw a conclusion that the postseason is just a crapshoot and anything can happen. People are also underestimating this rotation. With the added improvement of Martin behind the plate this rotation's numbers would look a lot better. Obviously there is a lot of risk with Stroman and Hutchison being young but there is risk with pitching no matter what. So lets get rid of this notion that we need a "Lester" because he is magically going to take the team to the World Series.
  8. The dude makes something like 60k/hour now. Its the NFL guys making league min. and partying with 10k champagne thats the problem..
  9. Crazy how expensive tickets are. For thursday's Ottawa game I could get a ticket in the upperbowl for $20. Tickets in the 200 level which might have the best sight lines are $50 a piece.
  10. Too bad the pick isn't this year. Even then though anything can happen. NY could sign a big free agent and be good next year in a bad conference. The chances of the Nuggets and Knicks both picking in the top 5 is slim to none. I think you trade the pick as it has more value then having a young player who wouldn't get much playing time.
  11. You shouldn't have to waste 2 roster spots on a DH. If you do, Francisco is not the guy to bring back. He was beyond awful the last few months and hasn't proved he can hit in the majors after pitchers adjust to him. Add in the fact he would make over 2 million in arb. and he would be wasted money. Just non-tender him.
  12. All seriousness though rotation is fine. Dickey and Buehrle are fine #4 pitchers who eat lots of innings and are durable. Stroman seems like a good bet to be a solid #3 with upside to be a #2. As long as Hutch stays healthy he should be a solid #3. Rotation is definitely playoff caliber especially considering how Martin should help them out. Not crazy to think Hutch and Stro would of been 3 and 4.5 Win pitchers last year with Martin behind the plate. First priority is LF and then 2b if you can. Bullpen I would look to go cheap and see if you can get some high upside/no name arms.
  13. Lol. Shields threw 100 more innings but was worth less value than Stroman and you want to say Shields is more valuable because he threw more innings...Logic.
  14. Lost SOG by one shot lol.
  15. No way the Blue Jays would of signed Vmart. All they said about trading Lind would of been a Uturn.
  16. Wouldn't be surprised if he misses a week. And tbh I hope he is smart and lets it heal before getting back on the court. Last thing we need is another Amir situation.
  17. As well as send Healy to the moon.
  18. Bulls lost tonight to the Pacers. Tibs played his main guys huge min, Butler had 41 min. For all the crap Casey gets about playing his bench too much, limiting starter's min is only going to help these guys in the long run.
  19. Get out the Salami and Cheese MaMa, This Ball Game is Over!
  20. Damn Cavs are killing the Hawks right now. 40 point lead.
  21. lol jinxed it
  22. Get some ice on that ankle asap! Hopefully he can play against his former team.
  23. Am I the only one that really hates the Lou Iso at the end of quarters? He's made a couple but more often than not he bricks that crossover jumpshot.
  24. Its gotten to the point where its just a habit.
