http://hoopshype.com/salaries/denver.htm Where do you get 80 million from? He also didn't sign Faried to the extension or trade away Fournier (who looks like a pretty good draft pick) I just think your blaming him for more than he had control for. The Mcgee move was obviously terrible but I really don't see another move that looks that bad.
How exactly did he leave the team in shambles? He made a bad move with Mcgee I think we can all agree but other than that he made some solid moves. Galinari getting hurt isn't his fault and they still have good pieces with trade value.
Clevleand is getting close to being a good team with a maxed out ceiling. They don't have any long term assets and if Love leaves its going to be a mess.
He's completely overrated playing with Kessel and JVR. He's really more of a 3rd line C and you don't need to give out those contracts for those kind of players.
I guess so. But there is some idiot GM out there that would trade for him even with that contract so he still has value. Its why I liked the Bobby Ryan contract as a Sens fan. Even if it is a lot to pay for a winger he still has name value that its better than letting him walk for nothing.
Lol Phaneuf really isn't the problem either. Its paying a piece of glass in Lupul 5.25, Clarkson 5.25, Robidas 3.0 and Bozak 4 million. All those guys have at least 3 years left on their deal besides Robidas who has 2.
Forgot to mention Ross needs to be better on the defensive end. GV/Lou are known bad defenders so you expect them to be bad defenders and give up straight line drives from time to time. Ross has all the tools to be a good defender and has shown he can be good in the past so its up to him to put his f***in big boy pants and step up. A lot of his defensive miscues are him just being lazy/losing focus.
I think with the nature of how the NBA works you have to go for it. Its not like the 3 other big 4 sports where there is a ton of parity year after year and luck is a huge factor in getting to the championship. In 2-3 years the Raptors could be a better basketball team than they are now but the East could also be like the West of this year and the Raps would be in a more difficult position to get deep in the playoffs. I don't think the 2 NBA Finals spots have been more wide open than this year.
The Raptors are still a very good team. I think we are all underestimating them because of the recency bias of the end of that road trip. I think Demar will help the defense even if it means just taking mins away from Lou/GV. Team needs a backup big that can offer a little rim protection though. That is one of the hardest things to acquire but I have faith that Masai will do the right thing.
Holy s***. Just listened to a Podcast with Bernie Pleskoff and the guy is unbearable. Literally seems like the guy in that awful baseball scouting movie within the last couple of years.
Edit: Here is the link
If you want a cringeworthy quote go to around the 30 min mark. He talks to the hosts of the podcasts like they are 10 years old and haven't watched a baseball game before. When they themselves probably could put a better team together as a GM.
AA said they could move him for salary relief if they wanted to earlier in the offseason but weren't going to move him for the sake of moving him (sounds like holding out for a return) Its gotten to the point though where team are starting to get pretty close to their budgets so I hope he trades him just for the flexibility soon. Navarro really has no place on the team. He isn't more valuable than Valencia or Smoak at equal money so he would just be a waste.
If Toronto can get a long term C as part of a package thats the only way I would move him. I always find it funny that when Sundin was there they could never find anyone to play with him and then as soon as he leaves they can't find a C.
So why exactly is Navarro still on the team? I doubt you are going to get anything in return now. Where exactly are they going to play him to be worth the 5 million?
Glen Healy makes my short list as well. Funny how SN hires them 2 for some of the most air time. Scot Moore should be fired. Guy signs Buck and Pat to 5 year extensions and then hires those 2 goons for HNIC.
Yeah but say he he has money on "x" game and it is the 8th inning with a 1 run lead and he has his best reliever who has pitched 3 days in a row sitting in the pen. Does he bring him in to improve the chance his team has to win since he has money on the game when normally he would rest him to preserve him for the rest of the season?
If that same situation happens and he doesn't have money on the game does he alter his decisions? I think that is a very strong case that he could have manipulated games in that way.
Also the BBWAA has on the website that part of the criteria for being in the Hall is based on sportsmanship and character. If you go by that criteria Pete Rose does not deserve to be in the HOF at all. Now personally I really care if they want to elect all these guys to the hall but at least say that the criteria is all about numbers and not sportsmanship etc... I mean when you take that criteria into consideration Bonds shouldn't be in as he was one of the biggest douchebags in MLB history, but he also happened to be one of the best f***in hitters ever.
