  1. Wilner with a not bad question.
  2. I understand all of the AA questions but it'd be nice if we could get a few questions about the current roster and long term plans.
  3. So was Yost.. Managers really don't matter much.
  4. f*** off Barry Davis gets first question
  5. Gotta be liked by the media and casuals...
  6. Why is Jeff Garcia doing a press conference?
  7. Wonder what Royals payroll will be. Obviously back to back years in the WS will help drive it up.
  8. Jeff Blair has some good questions in his article. Yes Jeff Blair..
  9. American viewers seem to be worth more money than Canadian viewers though. But yeah even if say 1 American viewer=1.75 Canadian viewer in terms of $ the Blue Jays TV contract is worth well well over $100 million.
  10. It doesn't really work like that. Sure you will get a boost from ticket sales but signing a s***** contract will come back to kill you way more than the extra 5,000 ticket sales. Most of the money is in TV and if the team is good people will watch regardless of who they signed 2 months ago. Just increase payroll a little bit (145-150)so you save the PR shitstorm of slashing payroll after record profits. The Martin and Donaldson moves didn't really do anything for ST sales last year which I wouldn't of expected.
  11. Rogers gets a ridiculous deal on the TV contract since the Blue Jays can only negotiate with SN which screws over the jays. In 2013 the TV deal was worth a whopping $36 million. No one knows the actual figure for 2015 or 2016? but my guess is it is close to $80 million or more. How much would it get on the open market if CBC or TSN was allowed to bid for the rights? Probably close to $200 million if not more would be my guess but its all a guessing game. So SN (Rogers) gets an unreal deal since they don't have to pay revenue sharing on the TV deal and get to keep all the profit, while the Blue Jays in a way get screwed since it won't show up in their profits.
  12. Fair enough. Thats all I wanted to know that if as a fan you felt comfortable with that.
  13. Yeah stretching him out in ST seems pretty harmless. Seems like he could be a number 4 starter if he could maintain some of the velocity as a starter. Obviously won't be averaging 95 as a SP but even 93 would be a big step up. He probably has more value in the pen being a Wade Davis like set up guy than a number 4 starter though even if the "WAR" total is lower.
  14. I've seen this a lot on here lately that Rogers has been outstanding since the payroll is top 10 etc... Now I agree with almost every point you made but would you say the payroll is reasonable if the Jays had top 5 revenue and profit in baseball? If the Yankees and Red Sox had a payroll in the $160 range their fans wouldn't be happy because it is "top 10 in baseball", they know like everyone else it should be top 5 because of the amount of revenue brought in by the club. So my question is this, "As a Blue Jays fan if you knew that Rogers was making say $30-50 million per season on the Blue Jays would you think payroll was reasonable"?
  15. I think Shapiro will keep Gibbons for at least 2016 and evaluate the job after the season. He knows as much as anyone that the manager position doesn't mean much in terms of wins and losses and that the players really like him.
  16. Difference is he has to do interviews with the media right after that happened. He's not going to get interviewed about the matter while he's at his house in the offseason.
  17. They have over 20,000 season ticket holders so I can guarantee you won't see those type of numbers. I'm actually excited to see what Shapiro does on the business side of things as well. RC is needing some renovations.
  18. Only him and Stro have said anything about it and they were interviewed about it. Gave pretty general vague answers. They know its a business tho
  19. Doesn't really matter this year though because team is going to be a lot different next year. You pretty much have to pray to get a good FA wing player this offseason and that Lebron gets hurt in order to make it to the finals.
  20. Well thats one thing you don't really have to worry about with the Jays. Martin is so good at throwing runners out.
