Really like this trade. Another plus is that gibbons can't have revere lead off anymore. I'd like to see Bautista lead off although the chances aren't high.
Signing Smoak so early in the process is a headscratcher. Much like the Chavez trade looks like waiting it out would of got the club much better value.
I think Forwards, Centres especially are the most valuable but I highly doubt Karlsson was only the 45th best or most valuable player in the league last year. He's easily a top 10 player in the league right now and might even be borderline top 5.
Griffey had 74 WAR in his first 12 seasons at the age of 31. HOF just isn't about career WAR.
Larry Walker has more career WAR than Tim Raines yet he hardly got any votes this year.
I wouldn't say that. Number 1 Dmen are plenty valuable but Jones isn't that. Johansen has the potential to be a number 1 C and already is a really good number 2C.
Columbus is an easy bottom 5 org. So many stupid moves. This one isn't that bad but the Saad, Wisnewski, Clarkson, Gaborik, Carter suggest a common theme.
Bautista would be a perfect fit for LF at Fenway. You don't need good range and his arm would make him a plus defender much like Cespedes was there. Really, thats a perfect ballpark for him to play at considering he's a pull flyball hitter as well. That said if he went to the Red Sox I'd want to puke.
This is the reason I'm most excited about the new regime. Sports science, psychology and nutrition are so overlooked by MLB franchises and there are big advantages to be had by the clubs that invest in them. Its embarrassing that some players are eating pizza and drinking coke before games.
