  1. Yeah tanking is a good strategy. I don't buy into the "winning culture" stuff. Crosby's team was terrible his first year and there are countless other examples of good players being on s*** teams. Once you surround those players with talent and a good coach the team is better. If you aren't motivated enough to win, you shouldn't be in the NHL.
  2. JV has really regressed this year and the Raps have always been better with him off the floor than him on. I'd rather have Patterson on a similar contract + what you could get back for him(JV) than just JV. Carroll I would try to move first but can't see many teams wanting him.
  3. Looked up The FA class this year and wow does it ever suck.
  4. Players report to ST in like a month and a half. Offseason has flown by.
  5. I wouldn't say its undeserved. He has one of the best Net Rtings on the team and played really well for a good stretch. He's really good offensively if you surround him with 3 point shooters and a good PnR guy like Lowry and Joseph because he's great finishing around the basket and a good passer. His defence needs work but he's a decent backup C. I mean JV can rebound but his defence is much worse overall.
  6. Coaching staff treed to win obviously but management tanked. Honestly its a good strategy..
  7. They tried to lose last year..
  8. It'll be interesting this offseason to see what they do. If they want to sign Patterson back as well they would be going into the luxury tax. My guess is JV or Carroll gets traded.
  9. Well the other option is they let him walk and go back to being a lottery team. You basically have to sign him.
  10. As soon as Derozan and JV come on the floor the team sucks again.
  11. 33 Points on 14 f***ing shots.
  12. Well shouldn't the org. be blamed then? Or maybe there are CBA issues about doing that kind of thing.
  13. I wouldn't call it a PR issue. You had a couple of people with the "should he need the money" responses but outside that there's been no backlash. Even Keith Law stood up for him and he is a guy who would be hard on something like this. If anything the Bluejays should have stepped up right at the beginning and gave him money so they didn't have to ask for anything.
  14. Hurricanes happen all the time too. (Why home insurance there is very expensive)
  15. Biggest thing for me would be if Alford has success and makes a lot of money is that he pays it forward like others did to him.
  16. Think it depends on who the athlete. His signing bonus wasn't that much relatively speaking and even though he's a top prospect he could flame out. I'd draw the line with a Major League player. Lots of people in the south don't even have house insurance. I was shocked when I went to Florida and even middle class people didn't have insurance. If they didn't have insurance thats really tough.
  17. Since the switch from baseball I've seen nothing but positive reports about him. JW where was he called the most selfish player in Ole Miss history?
  18. http://2080baseball.com/spotlight/anthony-alford-2/
  19. I'm sure he has enough motivation as is. His makeup has been praised by many.
  20. Anthony Alford's family house burned down in Mississippi https://www.gofundme.com/rf-rising-from-the-ashes Looking through the donations you can see a few Jays names which is nice to see. John Gibbons made a $1500 donation.
  21. Be interested to see if Cousins attitude changes if he goes to a team like Toronot. He's a massive headcase but so was Lowry before he came here so maybe he can get better.
  22. You giving up Ross, Powell and 2 first round picks to get him? I'm not.
  23. One thing I like the most is that players are moving to the Tampa area to workout in Dunedin under the Jays staff in the offseason. I think thats a huge gamechanger that they haven't had in the past.
  24. I can't see them trading him at all as it looks like they are going for that same WC spot.
  25. Thats the first time I've heard the Jays linked to Brett Gardiner.
