This isn't necessarily true. I've stated this before, it is in Bautista's best interest to accept a trade at the deadline if he wants to maximize the contract he receives in the off-season. The pick that will be attached to him via the QO will lessen what he will obtain on the free agency market, especially given his age and contract demands. He's not a dumb guy, he is well aware of how the QO ramifications will affect him, and if he is sure the Jays aren't going to be offering what he is seeking this offseason it only makes sense from a financial standpoint that he would veto that no-trade clause.
I wont be shocked if he is dealt, not for any of OP's reasons of course, but for his own self-interests.
