The NFL is alot different from literally every other sport. Athletism is the only thing that matters for the majority of the positions come come the draft, excluding the line where its combined with gargantuan size. Aside from a few positions, skill is an afterthought, and most teams just hope players have some basic ability to assimilate information, so as to be able to learn schemes and positional awareness. It's a major reason why the majority of players wash out of the league by the time they hit 30.
