    Samardzija has a high ERA. So clearly he sucks and it shouldn't take much to get him, right???? Hey, McCarthy got traded for nothing last year this time for having a high ERA. Bring in the Shark.

    Hendriks for 2 innings was the right call. I was expecting Coke to face Ortiz to justify that unnecessary call up, but he kept one of his best relievers in the game and it paid off. Broken clock.

    That goes without saying. Tell the geniuses who think Gibbons is a great manager that bad managers hurt teams. They don't seem to agree.

    Clippard's been awful this year. Lots of flyballs and lower K rate. If you can get him for nothing, then fine, but don't give up an asset.

    Thank you. People seem to think I'm rooting for Gibbons to fail. All I'm saying is bad managers hurt teams. Whether it's Farrell, Gibbons, whoever. If you make bad decisions, it hurts the team. Gibbons makes a lot of them. If the Jays can win in spite of Gibbons, I'll be thrilled.

    The Jays have not been in many close games recently. Gibbons hasn't had much opportunity to blow games. 4-4 in the 7th right now? This thread will have activity soon enough.

    Coke better not be coming up in place of an infielder. Gibbons only uses 3 or 4 relievers as it is. He doesn't need more.

    Maybe they can guarantee Hamels' option in the final year of his deal? That might be incentive for his to waive it. Or he just may not want to play in Canada. It happens.

    Yeah, if the Phils are eating salary and the Jays are not giving up a top prospect, then go for it. We've had to cheer for Lawrie and JPA for so many years. At least Paps might actually help us win once in a while.

    If Norris is going to the Phillies, then Hamels better be coming to the Jays along with Papeldouche. No way a 13mil closer in his mid-30's is worth trading your best pitching prospect. Maybe that's why Boyd is still in New Hampshire. Pad those stats.

    Combine Zobrist with one of their starters and/or relievers, and I think it would be a good gamble to take. Just avoid giving up Norris or Hoffman.

    I am not a fan of the AA regime, but if there's one aspect of the team that I am comfortable with him and his regime being in charge of, it's the draft. Hope they have another good one.

    The AL West laid a giant turd against the East this weekend. At least the Jays benefitted from it as well. I've said before though, the amount of teams stuck in the same level of good/mediocre records is far too great to worry about standings right now. Eventually teams will sink or go on runs and separation will be created at that point. We just have to hope the Jays are the ones who go on a run. I think the East and both Wild Card's are winnable this year. The Jays starting the season off so terribly will hurt them, but there's time to right the ship. Take care of your own s*** and let the standings fall where they may.

    A manager who uses his best relievers in the most important spots, and his worst relievers in the least important spots, would make a difference. A manager who doesn't play a DH in the outfield when the rotation is filled with flyball pitchers (other than Sanchez) would make a difference.

    He took a team with the best pitching staff in baseball to a sub-.500 record in 2008 before he was fired. Now he's taking a team with close to if not the best hitting in baseball to a sub-.500 record in 2015. Dude is as replaceable and s***** as they come.

    Yes, managers do make mistakes over the course of a season, but this is a trend with Gibbons. Whether it's Francis in a close game, or Schultz, or Tepera, or whoever. He either abuses Osuna, or when he can't, he'll bring in his 7th reliever in the same situation. It doesn't make any sense. He is s*** when it comes to managing a bullpen (and a lineup, and a defense, and practically everything else other than making people laugh in media sessions).

    Bo Schultz. 7th inning. 1 run lead. Blows lead. Allowed to face 6 batters (and counting). Boxcar's explanation here would be lovely, in addition to his defense of why CC/Navarro were playing instead of Carrera with CC at DH.

    Navarro should not be at DH or on the field at all. He sucks. Sarcasm, but in reality, I was just using Gibby's logic. Wins and clutchness. So much better than Farrell and KC's manager.

    DH is open today due to Edwin being hurt. There are finally three real outfielders on the 25-man roster. So what does Gibbons do? Colabello in LF and Navarro at DH. Navarro hitting ahead of Martin. Keep this thread alive!

    Rays tied the score, 1-1. Expecting the M's to score 2 runs in a game might be too much to ask.

    Can't worry about standings or how many teams ahead of us until August. There are so many mediocre teams and no great or really bad teams, so everyone is kind of bunched together. There will be more separation as the year goes on. Take care of your own s*** and let whatever happens happen. Obviously it helps if the AL East teams lose, though.
