  1. I agree stay the course. Unless you're getting a pitching equivalent of Donaldson, it doesn't make sense to make such a short-term move with long-term implications. One Dickey/Marlins off-season was enough for me. No more. Unless it takes a lot less to get Hamels than reported.
  2. My guess, all kidding aside, is Norris/Pentecost/Pompey. I think Amaro would probably bite on that, and is on par with what AA did 3 years ago. Not saying I would do it, just what I think it would take realistically (obv Amaro would ask for more and AA would try to give up less).
  3. What would be the 2015 equivalent of 2010 Kyle Drabek, Travis d'Arnaud, and Michael Taylor? That's all I'd give Amaro.
  4. Win the series tomorrow. You can't win every game. s*** happens.
  5. He was good today. No walks, high K's, and HR rate that won't stick even at Rogers Centre. He'll be fine. Whether he'll be fine for the Jays or another team a month from now is the question.
  6. Gibbons must think Martin is 39 years old with the amount of rest he gets. Estrada having back to back near no hitters with Fatty catching certainly hasn't helped in cooling down Gibby's love of Navarro. it's only going to get worse as the season goes on unless Alex trades him. If I didn't make that clear: TRADE HIM ALEX!
  7. Poor Boyd. First MLB start and he has Navarro catching him and Colabellol in the OF. Hope his FB tendencies somehow get the hitters to avoid hitting the ball to LF.
  8. Using one of your best relievers in a blowout is stupid. Cecil is the only exception since he's stopped being good, so using him in this spot would have been fine. Gibbons doesn't realize how good Hendriks is, and that doesn't surprise me one bit.
  9. Rays lose. Nice. If only the Stros can come back and win this. But yes, I agree with the poster above, Baltimore is scary. They've done this before, hell, they did it around this time last season too. They have some sort of lucky rabbit's foot in that organization right now.
  10. Just came home to see the Jays 2nd best reliever this season act as mop up guy. Wouldn't using Cecil have made more sense here since you're trying to fix his command issues? If they bring him in during a tie game again and expect to escape with a desirable result, then Gibbons is really pushing it.
  11. I have a feeling Sanchez is hurt worse than they are letting on. I think I'd rather have Norris up, but Boyd with some zip on his FB might be something. Certainly with this offense he doesn't have to be an ace.
  12. If the Jays take care of their own s***, then things will fall where they should. Everyone is bunched together right now. Just keeping winning and separation will come eventually. But they can't afford any extended stretches like they had in May.
  13. Boston takes the lead on Tampa, 4-3. Don't blow it Boston. Astros blow the lead to the Yanks in the 7th. Damn. Tied with Minnesota for the 2nd WC after tonight (with the f***ing Orioles there too), but would have been nice to climb over the Yankees too.
  14. Yep. Burned an option so they can put him back to where he should have started all along. Hope he stays healthy because that burned option may come back and bite us if he's not ready in a couple of years.
  15. Estrada almost threw 2 no hitters with Navarro catching. So Navarro should now catch Buehrle and Estrada. Call up Thole to catch Dickey. Martin catches two days a week. /Gibbons
  16. I'd be surprised if he knew who Donaldson was at all.
  17. Filling out a roster and payroll management are his main issues. I'm fine with his drafting and can forgive the Dickey/Marlins trades since he seems to have learned for his mistakes. But the roster management will always be an issue with him, and obviously I don't like his choice of managers in case that wasn't clear in my previous posts. He's not the worst GM, and if the off-season he just had is any indication, he might be trending upwards, but without a playoff appearance this season, he's done.
  18. Gibbons infatuation with Navarro and Goins is going to make for some painful lineups even if/when everyone is healthy.
  19. I'd be fine with Edwin for Strasburg, but SS is a Boras guy. Beeston's personal beef gets in the way of that.
  20. If Stroman were healthy, AA might have been lined up for an extension. Now he will have to pull a rabbit out of his hat to save his job. Great off-season, poor roster management due to panic after Stro got hurt.
  21. I wonder if Norris could out-pitch whoever the Jays traded for in the 2nd half of the season.
  22. Cueto and Chapman is the one short term "go for it" trade that I think might actually work. Chapman closing, Sanchez in the pen, and a true #1 starter for 2+ months. It would take a ton, though. Navarro back at DH today. Poor Smoak.
  23. I'm pretty sure it is Canadia related.
  24. Dickey hasn't done well at the Trop since 2013. He was bad last season and horrendous in his one start this season. The magic might be gone. If Sanchez has to miss more time, then AA better call up Norris or Boyd to replace him. I don't care if it's only for a start or two. If Copeland or Redmond start a game for this team again, I'll go mad.
  25. He should be the regular DH to keep his body healthy. That's why it's imperative to trade Navarro before the trade deadline.
