  1. Make that trade and then trade Boyd for Reddick (or equivalent). If you don't replace Edwin's bat, then Navarro will play every damn day and bat 4th. Not worth it.
  2. Don't get it twisted. If Edwin were traded then Navarro would be the DH and Smoak or Colabello at first. The offense would be a lot worse, especially when CC starts hitting into outs.
  3. Yep it defies logic. Edwin is injured and sucks defensively. Navarro historically cannot hit rhp at all. Smoak is better against rhp and is the best defensive first base option on the team. I mean, would any other manager in baseball play Navarro at DH in this situation?
  4. Even with the unbalanced schedule, I think the two WC spots will be won by the AL East. The rest of the league is mediocre at best.
  5. Seriously, the Orioles have gotten way too much good fortune the past few years. Their schedule in the next week or so looks fairly easy too. I don't see them losing very often.
  6. Good one.
  7. Hamels would make more sense than Cueto due to years of control, so if they're going to do one "f*** the future" trade, it should be with the Phillies.
  8. Especially since they just took 2/3 in Tampa.
  9. Justin Masterson beats Chris Archer. Hey, I'm not going to question these miracles, I'll just take them. Rays lose. Yankees down 3-1 in the 8th. Orioles win Game 1 of their DH and chances are they'll win the 2nd game just because. Things are getting tight in the East.
  10. The last two one run games have been wins. Progress.
  11. The Orioles are scary. Said before, I wish the Jays got Duquette after AA already made those big moves (Donaldson, Martin, and so on). Angelos won't let him leave Baltimore if they keep winning every year.
  12. If only the Jays had a real 1B who could have played today. f*** you, John Gibbons.
  13. Loup is good against LHB but my god he scares the crap out of me when he comes into games with runners on base.
  14. Can Travis hit and Goins play defense? That would be acceptable.
  15. Considering the circumstances around why they needed a RF to begin with, I'll call that an exception and not a norm. They usually build internally and make smart trades.
  16. It's so good to have Travis instead of Goins at 2B.
  17. I can take solace in the fact that Ned Yost and John Farrell were the last two managers that represented the AL in the World Series, so the Jays can still win with the Wobbly Redneck and his managerial incompetence calling the shots. They'll just have to outscore teams by huge margins to avoid too many close game situations (where Gibbons is outmanaged on a nightly basis).
  18. After the off-season of 2012, I never want to be the team that goes for it by trading every top prospect in the system for veterans. If you play for one year, that's all you're going to get in a best case scenario. The goal should be to be like the Cardinals (minus the hacking). Develop talent and never miss a beat even when losing a big name. I want the Jays to win over the next two seasons and then not miss a beat if/when Bautista leaves. That's going to require prospects panning out and smart trades (Donaldson/Travis type trades). Regardless, remember what happened last trade deadline? We might be arguing for no reason here. The money probably isn't even there.
  19. When you adjust for PCH (Professional Clutch Hitting), I believe Navarro's WAR jumps about 1 win. Fangraphs hasn't incorporated that into their data yet. Maybe someday.
  20. They never wanted to trade him. When Adam Lind said something negative about the organization, he was traded days later. When Navarro publicly asked to be traded, they kept him and play him at DH and catcher despite taking playing time away from a much better player. I have no doubt that no other team wanted him, especially if AA wanted actual talent in return, but if they wanted to dump him he would have been gone already. AA deserves all the blame on this one. I think so little of Gibbons that I'm not even going to blame him for doing stupid things. Take Navarro away from the roster and Gibbons would be forced to play the better players. AA keeping Navarro for as long as he has is the reason for this.
  21. Or maybe Gibbons thinks Navarro is better than he actually is.
  22. Jays need to win 90 games. The division is not weak anymore.
