  1. Pitchers as top draft picks are so risky. If the Jays ever got a #1 pick and it fell on a year where the best player was a pitcher, I'd be nervous AF.
  2. If they do ship Morales out (which would be a damn miracle) then I think they'd rather just put Pearce at DH than Jose.
  3. Any chance the Royals do Hammel for Morales? Maybe if the Jays eat up half of the 2019 salary? There has to be something between the two teams that doesn't involve Ian Kennedy's s*** contract going to the Jays.
  4. They have Freeman locked up for four more years. That is how many years Jose and Edwin had left when AA went bonkers over here. I'd be shocked if he continues to rebuild beyond 2018. My guess is by this time next year he will start trading off a bunch of prospects for short term help. But again, maybe he's changed. And the Jays were not close after 2012. They had like 90 losses and wasn't that the year every starting pitcher had to have surgery simultaneously? They were bad, man.
  5. AA handed the #1 ranked farm system is like giving a million dollars to a crack addict. Maybe Friedman changed him, though.
  6. Man, I'm really starting to believe there is a chance the Jays can dump Morales on them. Come on Hosmer, choose the Padres!
  7. Yeah seriously. High BABIPs and high K's all over the place for the Brewers. Getting Yelich and Cain while selling high on their existing outfielders looks like a damn smart idea.
  8. If Shatkins was after Yelich even after acquiring Grichuk and Grandy, then maybe Pillar actually is available. I didn't think the Jays would actually trade him this winter, but if they somehow got Yelich, then we probably would have seen a Yelich/Grichuk/Granderson OF, unless they flipped Grichuk in that deal or a separate deal, which wouldn't make sense since Atkins was slobbering all over him in interviews and he seems to fit what the front office looks for in hitters. Pillar obviously doesn't. To me KP is a ticking time bomb. Dude's value is going to plummet one of these years and I'd rather it not be in a Jays uniform. Sell high dammit.
  9. Yeah, the Marlins clearly target certain players regardless of how they are ranked, based on the Ozuna trade. Interesting nonetheless to see the Jays were right there. I wonder what their offer was.
  10. Damn, they asked for Vlad, then settled for much less with another team. That sucks. A package centered around Alford for Yelich would have been incredible. The Marlins gon be the Marlins, though.
  11. Yeah that sounds like a plan. Unfortunately with the Jays signing Grandy and trading for Grichuk, I think they already got their answer from Cain.
  12. Sounds like any team that offers five years will get him, but doubt the Jays would even consider that at this point. If the Jays signed Cain and then traded Pillar and Pearce for cheap SP/RP depth (to save money/add Cain's salary to the roster), is the team better, worse, or the same?
  13. Pillar for Salazar would be awesome from an upside standpoint, but yeah I don't see the Indians doing it, even though from a WAR standpoint it's close. Any team that needs a CF can just sign Dyson if they need a cheap short term one.
  14. Mario T ain't wasting his time to watch Goins. He knows what's up.
  15. Goins BABIP will be .380 next season.
  16. If Trollosi is the only one mentioning this then I doubt it has any validity. If it does, then I'd be fine with a minor league deal, or a very minor big league deal (think Gavin Floyd 2016). Otherwise, pass.
  17. Agreed on Garcia. Don't really care who the reliever(s) are. There are a bunch that would be worth cheap one year deals. As long as they don't burn millions on loogy's anymore.
  18. Not only did Atkins say the org likes him more than the industry does, but basically everything they liked about Smoak applies to Grichuk if you look at their batted ball profiles. Doesn't mean it will lead to the same type of breakout, but Grichuk could actually run and play defence so the offensive improvement doesn't have to be that dramatic.
  19. 2 in the top 10 is awesome. Pearson already in the top 100 after a couple of months as a pro as well. Looking good.
  20. I said if he sees an improvement in his performance like Bruce saw after 2015 that combined with his D and base running, that would be a damn good player (whereas Bruce can't run or play D so it's not as valuable).
  21. I think they expect more Jay Bruce post-2015 rather than Smoak, but since Grichuk can actually run and play D, that's a pretty damn good player.
  22. Good power potential, but yeah, could use some OBP. Travis and Tulo bouncing back, at least the half season they actually spend on the field, would be helpful.
  23. Yep, this is probably the position player roster: CA Martin 1B Smoak 2B Travis SS Tulo 3B Donaldson RF Grichuk CF Pillar LF Granderson DH Morales BN Pearce BN Solarte BN Zeke BN Maile AAA: Hernandez, Alford, Pompey, Smith Jr, Jansen, Diaz, Gift, Tellez
  24. Garcia would look nice in the bottom of the rotation. Add him and maybe one or two relievers on the cheap, and we should be good. Add minor league deals to Hutch and Liriano for good measure.
  25. Pillar's been awesome value the past three years but he's the type of player that can go from good to replacement level in a hurry. The longer the Jays keep him, the more they are tempting fate.
