  1. I've seen very little difference between Charlie and Schneider other than moving Bo down in the order. Everything else seems to be status quo for the most part. Still better than having Charlie around, but definitely seems like the Jays (like most teams nowadays) manage from the front office down.
  2. Passan goes over the contract in a series of tweets.
  3. Sadly, the two pitchers they got back for Adames are doing really well, so even when they give up a good player, it never seems to hurt them. The only bad trade I can think of from the Rays is the Cronenworth deal, but Xavier Edwards still has time to turn into equivalent value.
  4. I feel the same way. I really like him as a short term pickup and glad he’s here for next year but seems like a very risky 5-7 year extension candidate. Hopefully someone in the minors (Orelvis, Barger?) can develop into a 3B option for 2024. Or maybe move Moreno there if Kirk is still healthy and producing. I guess there’s time to figure that out, also other trade options will present themselves over the next 15 months.
  5. Next year's AL Central winner will be 73-89. But seriously, this needed to be done, especially with the Wild Card around, and every fanbase should be able to see all the marquee stars and franchises at least once a year.
  6. Yeah my guess is Stroman didn't realize that was actually Gibbons, but who knows with him.
  7. Yeah winning 3/4 at New York is fine. The division was always a long shot given how great the Yankees were to start the season and how inconsistent the Jays have been. If more reinforcements came at the deadline, then maybe you'd get more hopeful for a miracle run, but this team kinda is what it is at this point (high 80s/low 90s win team), so just have to get in and hope for the best. I don't think it really matters which WC spot they get, but WC2 seems like the worst spot. Either get WC1 for home field, or WC3 to face the Central winner which should be an easier matchup.
  8. Anything hit to Bo terrifies me.
  9. The one time Rivera was right, and Vlad doesn't listen.
  10. He was safe. Overturn that s***.
  11. Schneider 4D chess.
  12. 2 on, 1 out for JBJ and Tapia. This should be fun.
  13. With JBJ and Tapia hitting back to back in this inning, I kinda wish Collins was still on the roster so Schneider could have started him at catcher today. Missed opportunity.
  14. Biggio should definitely be playing over Tapia, especially if it’s in LF. A smart front office doesn’t give Tapia 400-500 plate appearances in a season they want to compete. I’m not sure what the hell the Jays are doing or what they see in him.
  15. Tapia leading off and JBJ batting 9th. Charlie at home with a tear of joy trickling down his face looking at that lineup.
  16. Romano is probably out for tomorrow's game since it's a day game after a night game and he had to pitch in a blowout in game #1 of this series. Either way, nice win tonight. I didn't find the Apple broadcast as annoying as others did. The unwatchable Apple games are the ones with Melanie Newman (?) as the lead announcer. This one was inoffensive to me.
  17. Looks like Yimi was warming up. I would keep Gausman in as well, but this is Blue Jays baseball now (and I guess most teams). Go to the pen as often as possible.
  18. If anyone complains about YouTube games (where all you need is an internet connection), then you’re simply not going to make everyone happy regardless. Apple TV/Peacock I can understand since you have to pay for those services (though Apple games have been free this season IIRC). My guess is MLB will (or should) eventually create a bundle where if you get MLB.tv, you will get Apple and Peacock for the baseball season as well.
  19. Yeah seriously. Baseball has ebbs and flows. Maybe you don’t need your closer for 6 days but then need him for 6 of the following 9 days. You don’t need to use high leverage guys in blow outs, especially this late in the season when every win is going to be important.
  20. The Jays lack SP depth in the minors so even though Castillo might seem like marginal SP depth, he'd still have value. They could have traded for White and kept Castillo, and probably saw no difference with Biggio playing instead Merrifield.
  21. That...wasn't that bad.
  22. Schneider is just as bad as Buntoyo with handling the pen. Really hope he's not extended after this season. No reason at all to use Bass here.
  23. Bonds hit .276/.480/.565 in his final MLB season at age 42 (477 PA). He could have probably played another 2-3 years, especially on an AL team. Shame he was basically forced out of the game. Roids or not, he was still an elite hitter.
  24. Stripling should be ahead of Berrios (at this moment) but I doubt they’d actually do it. If the Jays make the Wild Card game and it goes to game 3, I think the team gives the ball to Berrios.
