  1. We get Philly's best starters, Miami gets the garbage.. why couldn't we have faced Williams yesterday?
  2. Yawn. Desperation move by the Tigers after Anibal Sanchez and Daniel Norris got put on the DL. Watch him get blown apart vs. the Rangers on Saturday.
  3. Mike Trout's slump, apparently caused by a wrist injury: http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2015/8/20/9180825/angels-mike-trout-mvp-wrist-injury-slump-august
  4. I understand what you mean. The Angels have similar worries too.. especially when they struggle to get anyone other than Trout/Pujols/Calhoun on base. So far, the DeJesus/Murphy/Victorino deals haven't exactly worked out. They really needed another big bat in that lineup.
  5. Well, the Phillies offense is actually quite good post All-Star break, 3rd in MLB with a .274 average, as they've given ABs to younger players like Franco, Hernandez, Galvis, Ruf, Rupp, Herrera, Asche and surprisingly, Andres Blanco. The pitching outside of Nola and Morgan on the other hand, just reeks.
  6. Especially when the opposing team has a garbage bullpen, like the Mets and A's, who they just faced. Twins have been hit hard with injuries to their pen. Oh, and Byron Buxton is playing in the series due to Hicks' hamstring issues. He could spark the Twins.
  7. Regarding the Angels series: Angels are 22-32 vs. above .500 teams. Basically, they've feasted on weak opposition.. but can't beat good teams. And they've been basically a sub-.500 team in the 2nd half, as they cannot beat contending teams, such as KC, LAD, BAL, HOU and even TEX. Current wins in the White Sox series are due to the hapless offense of Chicago. How are they going to do against good offense teams? And they're 2-2 vs. the Jays.. back when the Jays didn't have their full lineup with Reyes on the DL, JD leading off, and Bautista DHing. If you look at the lineup from the last time we faced the Angels, we've improved dramatically since then offensively and defensively. Yes the pitching will be tough for the Angels.. but they're near the bottom in offense post-All Star break (25th), 30th in BA, 28th in OBP, 22nd in walks, 26th in extra-base hits. Only their pitching is keeping them in contention. Basically, if we get 3-4 runs in a game, we have a good shot at winning.
  8. After Kluber's poor start, that's not really a bad thing.. he gave up 4 jacks to the Red Sox last night.
  9. Not exactly. Josh Tomlin pitched well in his last start, and the Yanks are still missing Tex.. and the Indians just got Kipnis back.
  10. Oh be quiet. Angels are in a similar boat as the Jays. Except that the Angels cannot score.. they cannot continue to expect their pitching to dominate their opposition. The Angels are just trying to hold off surging Baltimore and Texas, who are threatening to kill L.A.'s postseason hopes. And the Texas series.. Rangers are not a shoo-in. Their pitching is still bad, and Hamels/Gallardo are not expected to pitch in the Jays series.
  11. Baltimore is 0-3 vs. the Twins this year. No sure thing the O's win this series. And of course, the Rangers face the Tigers as well. Oh, and Buxton will be playing CF in the series.. Hicks got DLd due to hamstring issues.
  12. But boy does their offense reek! Is it a wonder why they're barely hanging on a postseason berth?
  13. Then suffers an oblique injury after this..
  14. While Dombrowski did great jobs in Montreal and Miami, his work in Detroit has yet to get them a World Series.. and Boston's mess is pretty bad. And BTW, Sportsnet really blew it on the Sox payroll. Here's the correct numbers projected according to Baseball Reference (including arb raises and options) 2016: $163.9M (estimated--could be much higher) 2017: $170.2M 2018: $174.1M 2019: $147.5M Basically, Dombrowski has his hands full cleaning up this mess.
  15. Actually, the Indians will be more of a challenge with their pitching. Oh, and Kipnis is back.
  16. Well, that's it for the Twins contention chances. Jays will be 7.5 ahead of them if we beat Philly tonight. Did anyone really think Minnesota was a contender?
  17. And the lack of offense is eventually going to get Bryce Harper frequently walked (ala Barry Bonds).. there's not enough depth in the lineup.
  18. Especially the Nats.. wasn't that team supposed to play the Mariners, Red Sox or Tigers in the World Series this year?
  19. Finally, the Mets win it. Jays 4 up on the O's.
  20. Damn it Familia, throw a strike!
  21. Likely to be the first of many moves in Boston. Even though Farrell is recovering from lymphoma and will likely be back for 2016, he'll likely be on a very short leash. Expect Dombrowski to make huge changes, especially with the minor league system.
  22. Orbit's getting up there too.. he's really good as well.
  23. Quick, someone get Tommy LaSorda to beat up the Phanatic! Wonder if Tulo was thinking that..
  24. Wow, Philly's defense is garbage. And so is the attendance.. remember how full Citizens Bank Park used to be?
  25. Holy cow, that was just annihilated! #BringerOfRain20 strikes again! 1-0.
