Well, Washington is likely salivating at the fact the Sox bullpen, like the Yanks(who play the O's next), will be toast after this LONG game.. Jays will need to take advantage when they play Tampa.
And unsurprisingly, neither team can score. 15th inning.. and Farrell still won't touch Steven Wright. He'll have to next inning.. Breslow is at 26 pitches. And as I speak, Wright's warming in the pen. And Shreve's out again.. my guess he gets sent down for a fresh arm tomorrow. And Boston probably still won't score off of a tired Shreve..
Betts after that Opening Day barrage, including tonight so far:
2-15, 1 BB, 2K, 0R, 0RBIs. That's not a good thing..and part of the reason we're still playing at 12:00 midnight.
Well one team can't get their leadoff man to hit like in the spring (Betts in Boston), and the Yanks pen is just dominating the Red Sox, like they did with us.
Nice play by Bogaerts. And on we go into the 12th... well, this will pretty much screw up MLB's pace of play plans to try to cut game times.. we're at close to 4 hours now.
Wilson, Betances and Miller threw 20+ pitches. Plus, there's workload to worry about, especially with consecutive games coming up. I more focus on the pitches thrown. Just because they may have thrown 1 inning, how many pitches did it take?
As we speak, the Yanks and Red Sox are likely making phone calls to Scranton-Wilkes Barre and Pawtucket for fresh arms.. as no end seems to be in sight.
Bullpen arms remaining:
Yankees: Shreve, Esmil Rogers(questionable, as he was used last night in mop-up duty)
Red Sox: Layne, Breslow, Steven Wright (they should really save him for tomorrow, considering Kelly has missed a fair amount of time).
