  1. Different night. Different hero. This I believe is how it will be all year long. Jays team is deep in all areas, SP, BP, lineup. When you get a complete team of slightly above average players, different hero every night.
  2. Hey a full season of games like the last 2, would do more than that. Smoak had 2 great days. A couple of those at bats went 8-10 pitches. That shows a considerable improvement in bat handling. He has always before, been a swing and miss guy, not unlike most sluggers. Those drawn out at bats, show true skill.
  3. In 2016, I could not believe that Smoak was extended. I felt he had more than enough time to prove himself as a MLB hitter, and had failed. Since then, there obviously has been some improvement, but I have still considered him a mistake hitter, and unable to get a clutch hit. I have had no confidence in his offensive abilities. However I may have to change my attitude this year?
  4. Is this the place they talk baseball?
  5. Donaldson has been hurting all spring. The 1st ST game I was surprised to see him as DH. He never got it going all of ST. Was terrible at the plate, no timing or control. Rarely played 3B defensively, I can also see why there has been no contract extension.
  6. Maybe a bit of Gibbys reaction to spring training. Granderson has been hammering the ball, where both Smoak and Morales have not.
  7. Think there is going to be a few more Blue Jays fans in Quebec this year.
  8. I don't think hes the GOAT. I sure remember having high expectations when he came up to bat though. I really think that Fernandez may have been one of my all time favourites. Now he could play the game. How about you.////////
  9. Yes I believe this could be an excellent bullpen, 7-8-9 look to me as good as we have ever had. Time will tell.
  10. All of the regular major league players are playing like they are ready to fly north. Only the bullpen, and a few of the fringe prospects took the game seriously.
  11. http://dynamic.espn.com/nhl/attendance?order=false By playoff finals, everyone from Florida has gone north. My neighbours go to the mountains in Northern Georgia to get away from the humidity. Then they watch sports on tv.
  12. After 2 games Oh looks pretty overpowering. 7 up, 7 down. He should fit into the 8th inning quite nicely.
  13. Anybody know what agreement was made with Espinosa if he makes the 25 man roster.
  14. You make a couple of points. After the season Goins had last year, I was a bit surprised that he was simply let go. In hindsight it may have been better to hang onto him until now just to see how the offseason worked out. He could have been released at any point over the offseason, if the infield improvements had been significant. However, with releasing Goins when they did, the Jays were able to protect one additional player from the rule 5 draft. That's significant. In any case, I agree with the rest of the posters, that it is really a moot point today, Goins/Espinosa.
  15. Donaldson has really been struggling. If they keep him in Dunedin, he can get a 200 AB off different pitchers in the next 5 days.
  16. Bo and Vlad Jrs bats seem ready for the upper minor leagues. I wonder if the defense is lagging behind. They have only played on the road this spring, so I have yet to see them play defensively.
  17. I find that Florida fans, want to watch baseball in their airconditioned homes. Plus 3/4 of the Florida population, leaves the state come April/May. You should attend a Tampa Lightning game, mostly sold out. They like hockey.
  18. Hey Spanky, you still alive.
  19. I think we are going to find out. He can get played at 1B quite a bit in ST, which will give Gibby a pretty good idea if he is capable of playing the position.
  20. Benoit, Blanton, Villanueva, Holland
  21. What stats would prove I was wrong?
  22. I draw my conclusions from watching the games, watching the performance of the pitcher. what stats would prove my conclusions were wrong?
  23. You have it backwards.
  24. July 20th was 3 1/2 months into the season. When Cecil was run out in July, how much confidence did you have that he would get his job done? I had none. Yes he did turn it around with some carefull usage by the skip. Yes he was good down the stretch, but for a long time he was terrible.
