  1. Stro looked good today. Close to dominant.
  2. That would make sense unless there are some injury concerns.
  3. Don't think 2 weeks of anything will fix that. That was an instinctive move.
  4. It was one game, in ST. It did not help when the next pitcher, Morimando gave up a 2B down the RF corner clearing the bases.
  5. Today Vlad was tested at 3B for the 1st time this spring at home games. Prior to today all of his defensive plays have been easy ones. In the 2nd inning, there was a hard hit 2 bounce ball, just to Vlads right. How he reacted, was to twist his upper body around till his back was to home plate, and try to backhand the ball out of the air. The ball went over his glove for a hit down the line. What he should have done, was take a big slide step to his right, and catch the ball chest high. Needs some work there.
  6. Alford has played 3 seasons in the minor leagues. He has not done anything to make the team give up on him. Just 24 and still a lot of upside, No Dud.
  7. They seem to be giving Pompey every chance to prove himself. It seems like he plays most games in ST. Rarely see Davis. Having said that, I see that Davis has played in 2 more games than Pompey, he must be getting road starts that I don't see.
  8. Smith DFA for Buch. ! would have preferred Davis.
  9. Gaviglio has outstanding stats pitching in the 1st inning. Pitch count 1-25.....BA .192 ….. OPS .583..... Babip .205 Then it all goes down hill. Pitches 26 - 50 BA 338... OPS .885...Babip .395 Perhaps he would be the ideal candidate as an opener, or reliever.
  10. After 17 starts in 2018, Borucki ERA 3.87, Gaviglio ERA 5.08. Not that I am suggesting that this is a huge difference, but sometimes keeping runs off the board is helpful.
  11. 97 today with FB. it was his 86 mph slider that confounded the hitters. No body could come close to hitting it.
  12. 11 - 3 with a 2.63 era at Rogers Center
  13. The pitching staff, and depth, are not looking like quite the disaster it looked like this morning. Might have a .500 team after all.
  14. Yeh, that's how I feel. It would be nice to hold on to any leads we get.
  15. Giles was consistently hitting 98 MPH today. He had no location or movement.
  16. There was also the 1977 expansion draft, which created the Blue Jays / Mariners ...
  17. How about that graceful slide into home plate.
  18. Highlights. Jays actually had a chance to score in bottom of 9th. Triple and walk had 1st and 3rd, 1 out. 2 more outs game over. Elvis is alive. Consistent 95 mph FB. Line drive to center field and walk, sandwiched around by infield popup and 2 infield groundouts. Gal that sits behind Jays dugout, back again with her Red strapless, lowcut top. Nice to see some things never change. You guys did not miss much. Tigers totally out played Jays. 4- 0 Tigers.
  19. Travis knees were looking pretty bad in the first half last year, but got progressively better as the season ended. Still the question is whether he can remain healthy, that's unlikely, but overdue. If he does remain healthy, that would be great for the team, even if he becomes trade bait.
  20. The Bobby Mattick facility is closed to the public, not the minor league players.
  21. This does NOT affect the minor league games. This affects fans wanting to watch the players practice in the mornings.
  22. https://mail.google.com/mail/?tab=wm#inbox/FMfcgxwBVWSgdnqQVrkcHbMHdLdRVplX … For anyone coming South this spring, the ST training facility is closed to the public for renovations.
  23. I am curious to see him play CF. When he showed up at ST 2 years ago, and he ran out to stand in line for the national anthem, the first thing that entered my mind was, Who is that centerfielder? 3 weeks to ST. Whoo hoo!!!!!!!!
  24. Well...…….We know he can swim...…………..
