  1. Worse than Kenny on South Park.
  2. I reacted with concern at first but then thought throw him back into the deep end, like they did when he first came up. They must like what they see so lets get at it Friday night.
  3. Yep. Hit his 14th today off of Mad Max. Will quadruple his HR total over the 2022 5 total.
  4. Vlad with 0.5 WAR through 85 games is still a shocking stat to me.
  5. Just going to rant to myself for a second. The narrative after the disaster of missing the playoffs in '21 by a game was "the core gained experience so we gonna be ready. just you wait" and "if we played at home all the time we would have won the division" and all kinds of ******** magic elixir theorems, as if team development and success was necessarily linear. Its not. We had the CY, 2 and 3 in MVP. Its malpractice that pen/buntoyo were allowed to f*** up that season. Its entirely possible we look back in a few years and that team/year was our best chance in this window. (lets hope not) The team has changed so much since even '21 and by the end of '25 its going to change a ton more. Every year is precious. We can't just punt on a season and assume the next is better. Way way too many variables in baseball.
  6. Its too early to say that. They are lumped in with 5 teams for the last wildcard. Its a blessing and a curse that the extra WC exists. Manoah, Ryu and Greene might all come back and contribute. Vlad might go off 2nd half. Chappy may be POTM again. Also, monkeys might fly out my butt. WTF knows? Wait and see. On paper its definitely a playoff team. If they fall back badly(unlikely), Chappy would be a valuable piece for someone. The rest are spare parts and may be tough to get much value. Mind you we gave up Frasso + for Mitch White.
  7. Whats the down side? Nada. Go have some fun. Smash some balls.
  8. They will tweak around the edges....hope Ryu and Green give them some value, and pray that our underperformers come around. Its the right approach in '23.
  9. .610 ball rest of the way to get 92 Ws. Need to show up the next 2 series and be merciless.
  10. What’s with all the pearl clutching these days Dick in your super Atkins fandom phase? Of course he gets credit for getting Teo for peanuts. There are few posters who don’t acknowledge the solid moves made. There are also legit criticisms. The team has been a 90ish win team. We get it. That’s not bad. We get it.
  11. Why would Ms do that? They are one of FIVE teams outside looking in for the last wildcard spot. Same as the Jays are. Teo has a 111 wRC+ and 1.3 WAR under performing like a lot of the Jays are. They are going to hold on to him and see if he catches fire 2nd half making the same prayer us Jays fans are making for our under Performing players.
  12. True. Yes they are. But it’s ok criticize a player with an 88 wRC+ and 1 WAR when we simply need more from him.
  13. He needs a hell of a 2nd half. Projected 130 wRC+ by some. Currently 88.
  14. Any material upgrade will cost a lot with the extra wildcard. Sellers market. I think Ryu and Green will be our deadline additions - coming from inside the house.
  15. I agree that if he is 2021 Vlad rest of year that changes everything. We need some bombs.
  16. The early narrative "this team has so many different ways to score runs this year" is ringing hollow. Varsho's drag bunts are nifty and all but I miss the Mount Crushmore Days of 3 guys with 40 jacks. Of course then some people screamed we should bunt more.
  17. Is it just me or does it look like Kirk came back a lot slimmer? (That’s a joke)
  18. Rumours were we were so close to getting him. wonder if they were true. Chappy is great overall but not in this class.
  19. Wow. Mets, Padres and SEA have to be the biggest disappointments first half?
  20. Feb.24 2023 - DUNEDIN, Fla. – Alek Manoah is taking a renewal from the Toronto Blue Jays for the second straight year, once again turning down a raise based on the club’s pre-set scale to make a point about fair value for pre-arbitration players. The 25-year-old right-hander will earn $745,650, according to an industry source, the midway point between the big-league minimum salary of $720,000 and the raise he would have gotten under club’s system for awarding increases based on playing and service time. (mice nuts in the grand scheme but a bit ironic. Success can be fleeting in MLB for so many reasons)
  21. As charged! And I stand by it lol
  22. To be fair 2/3 of the season he was barely a league avg bat and bottom 3rd D SS. With that mitt you gotta hit. He deserved some criticism, and praise for how he raked the final third. Even better he has carried it over to 23.
  23. He is an alcoholic. Got sober in 2015. Good on him. That and a lot of working out and Mediterranean diet helped. He has talked about battling addiction openly and that probably didn't help his weight struggles for at least some of his career.
  24. That was a dumb decision over Gausman before he even threw a pitch in the Spring I thought.
  25. He really does look much more fit and athletic there. As a young professional, there really isn't an excuse. He, Vlad and Kirky all battling the flop sweat.
